I was thinking this weekend I would create a product and see how we go. I hope it helps you get a good idea of what is possible.

Step one.

The most important step is doing research.

What are people looking for?
What is a problem we can solve?
Is there some ongoing income we can create?
Can we create a product that helps people?

So for the research I have been looking through the forum and it seems lots of people have problems with organizing downloadable products, affiliate programs for their products etc.

Looking in the WSO not many people addressing this with a good solution or product except for the usual.

Searching in google keywords find:

ecommerce solution
Local 40,500 Global 60,500

ecommerce software
Local 90,500 Global 90,500

ecommerce solutions
Local 22,200 Global 40,500

ecommerce shopping cart
Local 33,100 Global 27,100

ecommerce site
Local 74,000 Global 74,000

And Many more.

So what we want to find is a good solution to help people with their product sales and delivery which can also run an affiliate program.

Most of the people who are just starting need something simple and offline marketers trying to help small local businesses need something that can be bolted onto current systems.

So we are now looking for a simple ecommerce system that we can add value to by creating some how to videos and/or tutorials.

In most hosting programs there are some quite nice shopping carts however customizing them is quite difficult and getting seo optimized is even harder.

I want something that I can use the features of say a wordpress site yet also optimize for other types of sites.

So thats the brain storming done now I am off to scriptlance, sourceforge and other places to whats around and if there is anything I can work with.

I've been noticing some trends here lately,and currently in process of creating my first product-yay!

I'll watch this thread(of course hopefully not too tightly so i actually get something done!)
