Googles Webmaster tools for site verification wants me to add this line of code to my site in the <head> tag and before the <body> tag: <meta name="google-site-verification" content="yrOIlzynmhpVKxvFV7gNrkiaiaQAhcuzlZRuTEqd1 A8" /> The problem I have is finding the template that has a <head> tag. I have searched every template for it: ie> main index template, header template, footer template, sidebars etc.>NO <head> tag any where? Also after installing SEO plugin, and sitemap plugin, is there anything that I should be looking for in the WP codes when viewing "page source" in firefox to be sure that this site is optimized for search engine crawling? Thanks Everyone...You know how I feel about your help..You guys/gals> R D BOMB |

For installing Google Statistics into your website, there are plugins you can get through WP plugin manager. For the SEO plugin check that keywords and title are as you set them in the article publishing screen. For sitemap, check for the file "sitemap" at the root directory of your website. |

If I'm not mistaken there is another way of verifying your site. I distinctly remember that you can verify by uploading an html file. It will be far easier. |

hi 1. as far as the source code goes.....that's a long story - and a field on its own. for the seo plugin - i simply set it to auto generate description for posts, and make sure my keywords are right and complete for the home page. 2. Aljiro is right - you can also do verification by uploading a web page (htm or html file). they give you the name it has to have - and you create a page with that file name. when you want to verify, you get given the options to choose - code fragment or html file the advantage is that you stay verified - even if you change themes....if you add the code to your header, you have to do it again every time you select another theme. hope this helps pj |

Thanks guys and gals, i have uploaded the html file that they asked me to. I just uploaded it to the "domain.com" folder and it tools stated it could not be verified.I have only one main domain for hosting as that is all i can afford. All of the rest of my domains are addons.Could that be causing me a problem?
