Why the so called pre-sell?

Okay lets keep it simple, why should I presell on a blog when the traffic comes from article marketing? Isn't the article information enough to fire up the prospect and do most of the 'preselling' already?

Looking forward to the replies!

What are you going to say when your prospects land on your blog??

Yes an article can be used for preselling.

If you're convinced they've already been pre-sold from the article, then use a re-direct or something and send your prospects straight to the merchant's sales page.

    I would test both methods.

If you own the sales page that the links go to fine but if you are an affiliate then EzineArticles for one, does not allow affiliate links.

So you would have to send them to your site and if you are an affiliate then your site should be pre-selling the product page where you are going to send them.

I would also add that your pre-sell page is the place to opt visitors into your list before you send them to the sales page.

      That is some good advice.

I have personally found that adding an intermediate page between the vendor page and your article dramatically increases your sales conversion.

I tested this with a batch of 10 articles before. One page sent to a review page, while the other batch sent right to the vendor.

I have still yet to make any sales off the straight to vendor version while my other set of articles that have a presell page have made multiple sales.

This is a great way to do it. Build your list and then send them through to the offer. I have reviewed a fellow warriors course on the pre sell and it is pretty darn good stuff. I learned a lot from it. Here it is:

The trick to a successful presell is to make it seem like your not promoting/selling the product...

You can never pre-sell too much..

    Presell is important!

In the presell process you are building trust...

In affiliate marketing that can make or break you

Consider a pre-sell to be an hors d'oeuvre.

Something that whets the appetite for the main course.

Or another way of looking at it... foreplay.

Thanks for all the responses so far!

    @Clearview - Don't have enough stats, still a newbie :$

@Mikemcmill - Bootstrapping all the way, don't have an autoresponder - yet ... But at some point I'll obviously need to get one if I want to grow my business.

The reason as to why Im asking is doesn't an extra click frustrate the searcher? Meaning give him what he wants NOW. I write an article to really motivate the prospect to get a solution, not to read an entirely different story on my blog that is not congruent with the article.
