.org and .us domains?

I found a one word domain that gets a very good number of searches and has low competition. The .com and .net are taken but the .org and .us are not.

Any opinions on .org and .us as far as SEO goes?

No opinions on SEO effects but you cannot place whois privacy
    protection on a .org TLD

I would not be using whois privacy on it.

It makes zero difference to the SEs. Google played around a little with .infos due to their popularity among spammers (they are the cheapest to register) but for the most part the TLD makes no difference in the eyes of a search engine. .edus and .gov tend to get some favour, but you can't go out and register either, of course.

You got that backwards -- you can't get WHOIS privacy on .us -- no problem getting it for .org
