Warriors, Heard this story before? " I've decided to try out a new career and go into the internet marketing business" " How are you going to do that?...you have zero experience " " Well, I will learn as I go along " " I heard a person can make good money in that industry. I'm glad you found something you want to do....good luck with that " THREE MONTHS LATER " How are you getting on with the business? " " Well, it's going pretty slow....but I'm learning a hell of a lot " " You know I have a week off work coming soon...maybe we can go somewhere. " " I can't....you know I haven't any money right now...that's why I'm doing this IM thing " " What exactly are you doing? I see you on the comp all day making these websites " " Yeh, I know....but in this industry you have to be patient. You have to work real hard in the beginning to get things up and running. Most newbies don't earn much at all in the first few months because they're learning " " Fine, well I hope you get somewhere soon " SIX MONTHS LATER " Hey I made a sale today! " " It's about time.......How much did you make? " " Well about $34......but the amount isn't important...it's the fact that I succeeded in making my first sale! " " Are you serious!!!!!! $34?!!!! You know what, it sounds to me that your wasting your time with this. You're not a computer person what made you think you can make a living from this? Tell me....when are you going to make some money? ...bla...bla...bla...bla" Any of you Warriors been here before? I will not conform!!! If noone believes in me then I guess it's just up to me to believe in myself!!!!!! Andy |

That was almost a complete transcript of a few conversations I've had, and I'm not joking. I won't stop. I've lost about $1k so far, but I've learned A LOT. And to my knowledge, there aren't any college classes that specifically cater to IM itself, so I see them as learning expenses......(makes me feel better, as most of it was on PPC). I know it's possible because I've seen countless success stories here on the WF. I just made a new desktop background with my new favorite car, the 2010 Camaro, because I told myself that if I can make enough money to buy it, then IM is a good source of income. Even if it's over a 5 year time span, or even 10 years, I'll still consider it a good source of income. There's something about making money on the internet that attracts me. I'm a natural computer geek, and I used to waste my time playing games all the time. Now I'm trying to monetize my computer time! |

LOL yeah I had that response from my fiancee when I first started in this industry a while back. It was only when the checks started rolling in that she beleived i wasnt simply "playing". The movie Boiler Room has a great line that applies well to this situation. Not exact quote but general gist of it: "One thing is that your friends and family are going to give you **** about this. It's true 200 week is not a lot of money. But pay them no mind...watch their face when your paying their Lexus repayments every month" For alot of people, what we do isnt real until they see the rewards...also alot of people are seriously challenged by an IM'er working outside of the normal "box" of society...it can be really a shock forthem. So try and humour them and dont pay their negativity any mind...its probably because they are a bricks and mortar type person and simply cant comprehend what wedo. Hope that helps! |

It's a tough business! Just believe in yourself and scale that up and then you can say, "I told you so!" :-)

rule no 1: don't expect anybody else to comprehend.... secondly...compare it to something that fits their frame of reference..... like studying into a new direction...(3 years) or planting a tree (several years) and even that may not help..... been there. done that. now i just go back to work. hang in there. pj |

Whenever I mention to people that I do IM, I get a blank, confused look from them. Thankfully, my wife completely understands(and actually shares in quite a lot of the work) and completely supports me I'd be lying if I said the befuddlement of my family/friends/neighbors etc didn't bother me a little, but I know the time is coming when they see the fruits of my labor and they'll be a little on the 'green' side An analogy I like to use(I don't share it with anyone else though) when thinking about my IM journey is that I have to be like a nice version of 'The Terminator' - I will not stop until I get what I want, every single day I will do my very best to reach my goals. Sarah Connor? No - some very nice daily, weekly, monthly and yearly income that is going to make myself and my family's life better Just keep keeping on, and think about how you feel when you reach the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Hold on, did you spy on me? Because that's almost the same conversation I had with my family. Until I made my first sale. |

My wife knows better than to doubt me. One time I bought 2 domains that she thought were worthless. I sat on them for 2 years and sold them for 5 figures. Ever since then she just trusts I know what I am doing no matter how nuts it seems |

You know what else......after reading all these posts I've realised that I'm probably not that worried about what people say about what I do. I think my problem is that every so often I feel as though I'm not going to make it. I keep going...I keep working all the hours....I keep saying to myself "I'm going to make it, I have to make it", but deep down...right at the back of my mind...I know I'm capable of succeeding but the doubt is there. I think I'm fighting my past negative beliefs. |

Yes, I think in this business you can usually convince yourself that you'll make it one day. A big problem for many IM'ers is how easy it is to expand your knowledge of the business without expanding your bank balance. Set some targets, 1 week, 1 month etc and make a serious effort at achieving them. Jim |

People who succeed in online businesses are those people who can give value to others and who loves what they are doing. If you have this or can develop this. You are almost sure you'll succeed online. |
