Work from Home Business idea - three.

I thought that you guys might like to see one of my offline business ideas

What I really like about this business idea is that you can get started TODAY.
There are not many businesses that you can start up and be running at a profit at the end of the first day.
It is a service business.
This is what you will need to do.....
You go and have a meeting with the management of a retirement village, or old age home.
You agree on a percentage that you will pay for the rights to run your service business with the residents of the place.
Then you write up a carefully worked out price list for being a "runner" for the residents.
What you will be offering to do is to do the running back and forth to the drugstore / chemist, or the supermarket, or the, or the, .......
Then you set a day of the week when you offer really great rates, as you will be doing very many from that village in one trip.
You also offer a higher price to do special trips, say to collect things from family members, or to drop of x rays at specialists.
The third level fee is for after hours where you need to do emergency things.
Naturally in the beginning you will not be very busy, but as time goes on and the residents learn to rely on the fact that you are always there every Tuesday morning, they will begin trusting you. Pretty soon you will be going from room to room compiling up a list that will keep you busy.
You will need to be a very organized and efficient person to make this business work. The quicker you are able to get in and out the grocery store the bigger your profits will be.
If you avoid the long chatting sessions, and go about your job with a friendly smile you will never be without work.
Obviously the relationship that you have with the management is crucial, as they have the ability to have you kicked out or banned from the property. However equally if they get involved with you from the very beginning they have the power to make you a success from the very first day.
Once you have one village running smoothly you will be able to add a second and then a third until you are unable to fit in any more. DO NOT take on more than you can handle as you will ruin your reputation and it is hard to repair.
Great, I hope this has made sense as I admit I feel a little scatty today, if you are confused then please contact me and we can discuss the idea further.
Finally if you implement this idea, please get the results to me as the real numbers will be a great help to others.

That seems like analogous to the teenage lemonade stand. It is something that will keep you busy while making a modest amount of money, but you will be helping people and it is almost guaranteed to make you some money, right? Unless someone has beaten you to it...

    yeah.
it is part of a series that i wrote showing people that are in big financial trouble a way out fast.
what i advocate is that they do this and then have a second tier business plan in the wings, and grow into that one and then even a third tier.

As far as the pricing goes, could you give us any clues? Most retired people do not have a ton of cash. Here in Santa Clarita Valley, California, we have something called "dollar ride". It's a small bus that comes and gets you by appointment for a dollar.
Don't see how I could compete with that.

The idea itself is good, maybe in areas where the "dollar ride" is non-existent.

this business module is more for the semi retired person or someone who needs fast cash, and doesn't have any other options. in my area, and i am talking about Johannesburg South Africa i have about 30 "old age homes" near to me.
some have extremely poor people and others fairly rich.
Point is to work with the ones that have the means.
all these home have a similar system of scheduled lift schemes and other options, but i know from having had my parents in one of the homes.
there ware many a time that we had to go out and pick up some pills or something at a strange time of night for them.
Take out food and a whole lot more.
a lot of them would rather pay you than go to the trouble of going out themselves.
as far as pricing goes i would not have a clue as to what is acceptable in the different areas.
as a vague comparison i would be able to get the same amount as a quarter pounder here for a day trip, and at least double that at night - if not triple.
i guess al you could do is test and then see if it would work.
hell if you are really looking for ideas i have a lot of others. all over my blog. and in my head.
    mostly offline stuff - naturally
