Social Bookmarking w' Onlywire - Does it Work?

I am having my doubts about social bookmarking at least with Onlywire.

I never bookmark more than 2 times a day and I don't always use the same bookmarks. But each time I use Onlywire my article goes lower in Google!

Case in point. Yesterday, I had an ezine articles on pg.2 of Google. I bookmarked it and within a few hours it was on page 4. This seems to happen each time I bookmark something.

I am wondering if Bookmarking only works if you use a software program that uses different IP's and bookmarks multiple times.

Would like your thoughts.

Could this simply be "the google dance" and the pages will be properly indexed later? I don't have onlywire i'm just wondering.

Hey - I'm interested in this too. I wanted to put onlywire on my website - since I thought maybe readers would share the site that way with their friends.

Is that the function of onlywire?

Haha not at all, you can bookmark a website to like 30 social network/bookmarking sites with the click of a button.

Putting the onlywire button on one of your websites can encourage readers to share I guess but I only put it on one of my weak sites so I could have access to the free onlywire service.

I've used onlywire for a couple weeks now and it seems to get me a couple backlinks. I'm not really sure about ranking in the SERPS but I'm sure backlinks from those high PR sites help.

Yes, I use onlywire. It is very important to social bookmark your sites. The more sites that backlink to your websites, the better your rankings will be.

It does take Google time to index your websites properly.

I'm just starting to use Onlywire, not sure if it really work or not but I'm going to give it a try. I've upgrade my account to $24.95 a year, do you think its worth the money? I've read somewhere said if you don't upgrade, they will post their ads on your sites.

I've also read another post on different forums about Onlywire and lots of people are having negative results from them. Many of them went to the actual directories to check if the links are bookmarked but found nothing.

    We'll see...

No it is not worth it. You can put a teensy weensy ad of theirs on your site and the service is free. I mean the ad is teeny tiny, so why pay $24.95.

I have used Onlywire in the past but have never been really happy with it. There is also SocialMarker.com and what I currently use is Traffic-Bug.com.

I do thousands of bookmarks everyday ... Some few bookmarks is not going to get you lower in the ranks. What you need to realize is that others may be doing backlinks to their sites at the same time or may have done their backlinks a week ago and they are just now showing up thus pushing yours down.

Some people seem to think that a few bookmarks are going to hurt your listings but the fact is there are many factors involved here but it is also a fact that 1,000 bookmarks in a day will not hurt you one bit...

You can try outsourcing or use Amazon's Mechanical Turk to take your bookmarking to a whole new level. I personally don't use them but I hear they are excellent ways to do it.

How about using socialposter.com, It's free and cool. One good thing I just learnt now about regular social bookmarking is to make different titles/headlines and their respective ad copy. Very interesting, atleast this helps to avoid Google's sledge hammer on "duplicate content" when crawled on those sites bookmark.
    Thanks.

Google's Duplicate Content Penalty is a Myth .... The use of different titles and such have nothing to do with no dup content, it has to do with targeting different keywords..

If I'm not mistaken, Duplicate Content penalty works only if your content is posted on your site more than once. This is to prevent reposting content on your site for the sole purpose of ranking for keywords.

Social bookmarking doesn't really give much link juice, at least from my experiences...

And the page you bookmark only rank for very short period of time, may be because of QDF or other factors, and it will dropped from the first page of SERP.

Angela's backlinks seems to give long lasting result.

There are 2 places affected by duplicate content, and this is no myth:

      1. Your own site, if you post more than 2 articles on the same domain, good luck!

      2. Google SERP, you won't see the same identical article occurs twice even on different domain!

The only myth for duplicate content is - you post some articles that already exist in other websites will cause Google penalize your site!

Both of these are wrong ... You can have the same article twice on the same site and nope there is no penalty.. I know this to be fact as I have dup content.

As for articles - Ha! I wish people would stop with this myth, you can and many of us do, take over googles front page with the same exact article on different domains.

There is NO GOOGLE DUP PENLTY - This is a Myth Period!!

What google does not want you to do is create those god aweful doorway pages on your site.

Back to the social bookmarking topic, The big advantage to social bookmarking is the reputation you have on the social site. Don't just spam out your sites. join the community and get to know the people there. then you will get traffic to your site through them. Sometimes you can get good traffic through social sites and start making sales before the search engines even have you indexed.

That is the real power of social media. Most of the social sites (not all) put the no follow tag so using them for just back linking is worthless. The traffic you get from them will be worth as much or more as ranking well in the searches.

I use OnlyWire Myself, but make sure you spend a little time on each of the social sites to meet people and get your name known in the community, otherwise social bookmarking is pretty useless.

Awww here we go again with the duplicate content debate...

If there was a duplicate content penalty explain to me why for years now websites have bene using RSS feeds that stream web site content from one site to another. Essentialy creating duplicate content

    Example: News sites

Often confused with mirror content where you have the same sales page etc. on the same site. More to it than that but thats basically what mirror content is.

From what I understand, Google's policies are such that duplicate content isn't a "penalty" to search engine rankings. Google typically will just ignore the duplicate content and not include it in the search results.

Example: You have a blog and you take an article from an article website that someone else has written, essentially "stealing" the article because it uses awesome keywords and is ranked very high in Google. It's my understanding that Google will not penalize you for that but it won't include that blog post in the search results for that particular keyword.

Same goes for RSS Feeds and News sites, You can stick news feeds on to the sidebar of your blog (etc.) but those blog RSS Widgets are not included in any Google Search Results. So you can provide additional value to your blog by including that other information but it won't help with your SEO rankings.

NOTE: My recommendation is that if you choose to use articles from article directories that others have written. Do it properly and always give credit and a link back to the original author. By doing this, you will most likely be thanked by the Author (instead of threatened) and you will provide value to your website or blog and your blog readers with good content. However, that article won't help your search engine rankings. I do not endorse or encourage the stealing of articles and content from other sites.

Because people do not bother to read Frank .. Worse yet when they do read they do not bother to test ...

Even though this has been proven wrong time and time again people still conitnue to post this crap... Which proves my point above..

Not to mention this thread has nothing to do with articles as source47 posted about.. It was brought up because someone gave bad advice to hubreality who posted above..
