Default Do you report affiliate spam to the product creator?

I just tried it so I don't know if it will do any good but I'm tired of affiliate spam. I would think that any reputable marketer would take steps to stop this once they are aware that it is going on, though.

Just curious if anyone has tried this?

Tina

LOL, someone got ahold of my email, and I appear to be spamming all kinds of offers, even to myself!

ROFLMBO

If you are getting spam that looks like it is from me, I do apologize.

I don't know how to stop this.

You could try, but unless the creator has complete control of the affiliate
program (not Clickbank for example) there isn't a lot he can do. If it IS a
Clickbank product, you're better off contacting Clickbank. I don't even know
who my affiliates are for my Clickbank products and they don't release that
info. So contact whoever is actually controlling the affiliate program itself. If
it IS the creator...yes, contact him.

Hope this helps.

I haven't ... not sure if I might ...

I usually reply (changing the subject-line) stating that I regard it as spam and that if it continues, I'll be informing their ISP and/or the "abuse" people at their email service provider, which has so far done the trick.

I haven't had a lot of it, I must say: not a common problem for me at all. And it has to catch me on a particularly intolerant day to "activate" me.

I recently had someone spamming my product with an affiliate link. The email they used was a making $5000 a week one, with an unrealted link to a video skins product,

They made 50 sales, and only had 1 person (who assumed wrongly I was the one spamming) sent me a virus in retaliation.

No way I could have stopped the spamming, but I'm sure these people just saw a product they liked after clicking the link,

When I ran my own affiliate program I had a strict policy on spam. Anyone found indulging, which to be fair no one ever did (to my knowledge anyway) had their affiliate earnings confiscated and donated to charity.

I think you'll find most marketers abhor spam, after all as Darren just pointed out many folks may think it's them sending it out

Well, this is what I was thinking. I suppose it could be a spoof but I included both the header from the email and the actual affiliate link so that should tell them who it is. After all, it wouldn't make much sense to promote someone else's affiliate link.

I was very polite and everything. I know it's not the creator's fault but wanted him to be aware so that it didn't get him a bad name.

Hi Kim,

For that reason I imagine my affiliate program which was instant commission by RAPS was the reason they choose my product.

Nothing to confiscate.

I havent....because quite frankly I'm not sure that will stop all of the spammers. The creators can shut down the ones you report, but new people are joining internet marketing everyday.

Unfortunatly this is how some people are taught and they are not willing to take advice from people with experience.

I have, and they didn't seem to care. Perhaps there is nothing they can do depending on the affiliate program.
