Newbie Start Up Advice

If you were new to IM, but had a little money to get started, where would you focus? Is Article Marketing the way to go, PPC or some combination?

I've bought some "how to" programs, joined a couple of training programs and learned something from all of them. I'm suffering from information overload and need to take action. I'm wondering what experienced marketers would recommend.

I have a content site that does OK - it's a job board for sales professionals, www.top-sales-jobs.com, with lots of content related to job search (interviewing, resume writing, etc.).

Would it be better to try to build on this brand, or get started with something unrelated via either Articles or PPC?? I have a start up budget of around $2500.

Any thoughts from experienced Warriors would be most welcome. Thanks!

I think you are ,as most people new to IM, goign about it backwards. Take some time to figure out what you do best or have knowledge about. Write it down. Then try and wrap a IM plan around that. That will truly make it unique and that is the name of the game.

    IMHO

    Any question PM me.

      Hey mate,

First thing first, choose one system that you are faith about!
Think of the system potential on your mind!!
then just focus on your system, forget another system, focus and focus until you master it.

The others just want to make newbie like more confused by their crap system

Info overload is good for you - it will sort itself out in your brain while you sleep, with time.

If you have an ongoing project - finish it. It's hard to pull a few things at the same time and startups take a lot of focus away from what's already working. Plus any unfinished stuff will creep on the back of your mind. After a while you may think "I should have stayed with the first project".

I think yours is the typical way of a starting marketing "warrior", and you already are doing way more than 90% of the people visiting this forum.

With time your preferences will clear themselves up and you'll know exactly what you'll need to do.

With little "taking action" experience 2.5K may not be enough to start a decent project anyway. I'd suggest to research your competition to find laser precise keywords for every subtopic of your job site and invest into long lasting backlinks on high PR article directories.

I appreciate the advice here, and the advice I received from people who PM'd me. It's pretty clear that focus and action are key. And to Jon's point, passion - or at least deep knowledge of the topic - is really important. I know the ins and outs of how to hire top sales talent and how good sales people can find a job.

I think I'm on my way to answering my own question.

Thanks to all who took the time to help me clarify this.

why start out with nothing when you're halfway there with something? put your efforts in what you enjoy doing the most! that will definitely help you keep slogging through the night during those difficult times

I agree with others - build on what you already have. As you continue you will learn (if you don't already know) what your strengths are, as well as your weaknesses. Capitalize on your strengths. Hire out tasks that require skills you are weak in.

Develop a plan with realistic goals and work toward them on a daily basis. Your plan should include short term and long term goals. Keep things flexible because your plan should be revisited at least every 3-4 months and changes may need to be made.

    Best of luck!

What you've just mentioned is just marketing tactics...

Plan and do up your business funneling system. Focus on an end state and works towards it.
