Unlimited FREE Content From The US Government

Well, for the most part

Hey Warriors,

I found a very cool tool today and I thought it only fitting to share it with you all
here as part of my 1000th post, but you need to act fast if you want this for free.

It's called "PDF to Word" and what it does it allows you to take any PDF file and
in a single click, convert it to a perfectly formatted Word doc file.

How could this benefit me, you might ask?

Glad you asked

Think of the thousands of public domain PDF reports the federal government puts
out every year.

You can now take these, convert them to Word, edit to your hearts content and
then convert back to PDF and you have a easy give-away or even a bonus for a
product.

Just a suggestion and always make sure that the PDF you are starting from is in
fact in the public domain before you do anything with it.

You can get the free download right here, but it's for today only:

Giveaway of the Day - free licensed software daily. Today: PDF to Word - PDF to Word is an easy-to-use software for converting a PDF document to an MS Word (RTF) document. The software ...

Enjoy!

Nice find, and a cool tip as well. I have found some awesome federal government produced PDFs. It looks like PDF to Word might be a good way to strip out the unwanted information while maintaining the format of the document.

    Hey Scott,

Thanks for the head's up on the download.

I wanted to let you in on a little tradition...

When reaching 1,000 posts it is customary to take a fellow Warrior to the Golden Corral on Koeller Rd. To make it easy for you, I will volunteer.

Seriously, way to go. You are one of the more highly respected Warriors here.

    All the best,

Thank you very much. You have no clue how handy this is going to be for me. I work in the print industry (yes, I still have a 9-5) and there are very few tools that can do this successfully and keep the formatting in tact.

    Great find.

    Scot,

Thanks for the heads up and the idea...

Keep in mind, there's lots more public domain pdf's all over the web with a little imagination...

Google Books offers PDFs of public domain books - Boing Boing

    Not necessarily public domain pdf's...

But public domain in general is always great for some re-workable and creative idea brainstorming...

Hmmm, Zamzar looks very handy as well.

How long does the service usually take before they email your completed file?

    Scot,
    Thanks.
I saw the offer in another forum and downloaded it. I paid for an earlier version. Free is always better.

The great thing about your post is that you not only offered a great resource, but you also gave an terrific idea on how to use it. That is what my thanks is really for.

When this offer expires, here is a set of free tools that
you can do pretty much the same thing with.

First, run your PDF through here:

Zamzar - Free online file conversion

Choose to convert it to .doc format.

And then when it comes back via email and you edit it
in Word accordingly, you can then head back on over
to Zamzar.com and convert the new Word doc back to
    PDF format.

It's not as fast as the other way, but it's still free
