Hello I searched on deleteddomains.com and found a good domain for my new site, its expiration date according to the whois data is september 1st 2009 (50 days ago) and when I tried to register it, I was told that it's taken, with further check, I found it to be in "redemption period".. What I know is that the redemption period is not longer than 45 days, after which the domain is released for the public... Can anyone explain the status of this domain plz? I used to believe in conspiracy theory when it comes to domain names, that big registration companies just preserve the good domains to be sold as premium domains and prevent them from going to the public, I has nothing to support this theory except the common sense (will, when you're in control for important assets like domain names why to leave them for the public), but is this by any way true? Thanks |

google "domain expiration process" and you'll find several write-ups on this subject. It's a tricky business and registrars have different "periods" Before the redemption period there is also a registrar-hold period, that's prob. why you are seeing this domain in redemption after 45 days from its expiration date. |

There's actually a waiting period of 75 days before you can snag an expired domain, if you take a look at this article here: Mike Davidson – How to Snatch an Expiring Domain Hope that helps. |
