Default New Breed of SPAM??

I've been getting some promotional emails lately with an
unsubscribe link at the bottom with an "aweber-style" format.
(Not Awber! Just the style of the link.)

These are list that I did NOT sign up for and when you
click the "unsubscribe link" it takes you to a (minisite) sales letter.

Anyone else getting this?

hey jason

of course I'm nuts if I say it right?

(( what?? Isabella, what are you talking about? ))

aehm.... easy, talking about:

Traffic

lots of Traffic

AND...

...most likely NOT acquired in a way you think it is...

Here the link to the whole story - I went nuts after I read it
(that I didn't think of it earlier, gosh...)

Anyway, here you go Jason

PS: btw, especially if you are one of the *few* humans suffering from frustration
over "must have" traffic scripts or software not bringing in any profit, this
is exciting! and again, most likely ...it's not what you think it is... :-)

Even big companies are doing this. In the UK we have a comparison site that does this - I won't name them. I tried to unsubscribe from their email only to be taken to their main page. When I contacted them they simply replied by saying 'You have been removed from our list.' giving no apology at all.

I think aweber is exceptional in that it insists on straight forward opt out. My best defence is to put any email with false opt out links straight into my google spam box - more effective than you might think.

I've been seeing these more lately too. If it's from someone I don't recognize I NEVER click the "unsubscribe" link. That link could easily redirect to a virus or keylogger that silently installs itself on your computer. Be careful!

I end up reporting the spam to SpamCop.net - Beware of cheap imitations ... it's the least I can do to make their lives more difficult and get them out of my inbox.
