Yahoo! Asnwers not converting

Hi guys,

I conducted an experiment using some YA techniques and found out that the traffic is low (if any) converting.

I sent over 300 visitors in two days to an allegedly high converting offer and... no sales and only 8 of them reached the payment page.
Then 70 more to a second one - no sales
then 60 more to a third one - no sales

Has anybody had this same issue before? How could YA be used for affiliate marketing, how can it be further tweaked? Any ideas?

Thanks!

Also how targeted is your question to the product you're promoting? You have to use targeted questions with targeted keywords to get results. I've used it with success in the past. The key is patience, because the best results tend to come once your question gets some ranking w/ some of the search engines.

What's your conversion rate with other promotion methods?
The problem may be in the general nature of the YA which is to find a quick and short answer not a product. Personally I don't know anybody who took YA seriously.

I think YA is good for list building and that's really about it. Like David said, people on YA want free answers to their problems and don't expect to pay for their answer. Since an email list is free, they're more likely to sign up that way

One of YA's strengths is that it appeals more in search engines. For example, if someone asks

"How do I fix my xbox 360 RROD?"

Answer the question in full detail, give away most of the "secrets" on how to fix it, then mention that "This is what I did, which I learned from this thing I bought online which also taught me how to make pretty good money fixing peoples xbox360's on craigslist, its pretty cool."

In the source, put your link there to the product you are promoting.

Now fast forward. People sometimes use Google in the way that AskJeeves was once advertised, people ask google a question. Instead of typing "xbox360 RROD repair" someone may type "How can I fix my xbox 360 RROD?" which will bring up the Yahoo Answers question that you answered previously, "How do I fix my xbox 360 RROD?" - Over the next couple of months, people asking the same question will be more likely to click on a Yahoo Answers result that pops up when they type in the question as people like to learn things for free, and from communities where people talk to each other directly, which is what Yahoo Answers is. This is why YA pops up quickly in the first place.

Also, use it to build your list, like someone said before.

IMHO You dont send blind traffic from social sites to a sales letter, as a general rule. You send them to sites that give something away to capture the email so you can follow-up and/or further presale them.
