Default Duplicate Sales Page - Would You Do This?

I have a great little non IM ebook product that sells well. The Niche is tiny. The page converts about 1 in 60 visitors. 3 refunds in 2 years and that was because they didn't know what an ebook was.

So I have found that the domain name using my 3rd most popular keyword is available as a dot com domain.

I was thinking of putting the exact same sales page up on this domain to try and get more visitors to my product. My main domain is not based on any of my main keywords (I could shoot the mentor who didn't tell me that was important).

I was thinking that the keyword rich domain would probably get traffic more easily and probably overtake the original site in terms of visitor number and sales.

Would you duplicate a website in this way or would you stick with promoting the existing website?

Any strong opinions either way would be of interest.

From what I understand, Google just does not give any weight to the second site since the content was indexed first from the first one. I may be wrong. Would love to here what other warriors have to say.

Unless you want to have a position that is exactly the same keyword phrase the domain is, it won't be a good idea. Still, it would be hard to get any position with a new domain. Well, unless it's a really non-competitive keyword phrase.

Keep in mind the age of your domain has a lot to do with how google value your site. Simply put, you can get a better ranking for the same keyword phrase in the title of your current site faster. Okay, I mean title, h1, anchor link, etc.

One more thing: Buy the domain anyway and forward it to your existing one. That way you can use it for promotion.

I've got the domain now. I could reword the sales page but it has taken a lot of fine tuning to get it to where it is.

I will point the domain to the existing website while I consider this.

Still interested in other comments.
