Is this a good offline/online marketing strategy?

Hi guys,

Just need some solid feedback on this way of marketing which is hybrid of online& offline,

Ok, I have got a IM Product. And one way of directing traffic and build list I want to apply is using offline A4 size flyer which is in long copy in a usual 3 colum format with a strong headline on top and a dashed coupon on the bottom right hand side.

Now I am in two minds here:
First shall I on the flyer after covering the main points at the end in this dashed box just guide the prospect to the website which will be a 1 page squeeze page promoting a free special report (that is tightly connected to the main product on the main salespage i.e 80& information, 20% presell).

OR

Shall I as in the old fashioned way which involves physicall fulfilment have in that dashed coupon box a instruction telling the prospect that 'to get your free report, fill in your adress and cut out and post the coupon and I will send you your no-obligation free report'. Or even have a phone number with 24 hour recorded message where after 1 minute mesage they can leave their adress for me to post the free report. I will have the free report on Pdf AND PUT ON A Compact disk.

As u can see the2nd option involves cost like having these disk on hand to ship and posting them AND also a mailing adress where I will get these filled coupons because in case response is hudge using my home adress will be silly and risky hence hiring mailing adress expense.

I suppose whereas with the 1st option I will have on this report links directing them to the main product page (because they have already opted in) AND using the 2nd method becuase I have got their physical adrees yet and not email, I should direct the prospect to a special squeeze page created just for the offline orders of report OR just direct them straight to main product page in which case I will not get email details if they do not buy.

Has any one used the 2nd method and with what success rate. I would be really intgerested to hear that.

Thanks in advance for your feedback on this.

The best practice is to use a unique domain name that is tied to offline marketing so that you can track results.

I see no point in going the mail-in route. It doesn't even make sense if you're in the IM niche.

The other problem with mail-in is the lack of opt-in if you use an autoresponder.

The idea of a separate domain is an excellent suggestion. That domain can simply contain the squeeze page. For optimal tracking, the page should have minimal SEO. In fact, I would put all info but the submittal form in a graphic.

In lieu of a separate domain, you can use a subdomain or a dedicated page for offline leads only.
