Default OMG! My Twitter Has Gone Viral!

Hi Warriors it's always good to share success. I had opened a twitter account sometime ago and brushed it aside mainly because I did not understand how it fully worked. But it was good just to have the account for social bookmarking.

Then all of sudden it clicked I worked out the system and now its gone viral.

Congratulations!!!

I use twitter for my business a lot and found that mine went viral in february (two months after joining). What sent mine viral was that i was featured on lots of the lists of who to follow on twitter and through my viral twitter ebook that many has come from.

congrats.

I opened about 4 accounts at start of the year. my @designfuschion has about 1500 or so followers. the other 3 vary from 500 up.
The app allyourtweet, last time i checked told me i had about 4000 total across all accounts.
i get around 50 new followers a day..but lose them as well becuase i'm not tweeting. I'll eventually start building it up again.

It's actually pretty cool that people with follow you based on 140 -420characters (3 tweets).

They may not be lack of tweet unfollowers, most followers auto-follow and don't unfollow even if you don't tweet. Heck, I've seen accounts with no tweets and 50,000 followers that no one has ever done anything with.

Twitter deletes 'spam' accounts and if you have 1,000 followers, you could easily lose 50 spam deletions a day.

I pick up 200-500 followers a day, half are bots. If you don't RT a few times and never engage some real person in a short conversation every week or so (takes 15-30 minutes) then the follows drop in half and 90% are just bots and eventually Twitter deletes them.

tweeting affiliate links directly will get you ignored as a being either a bot or spammer. If you only send cute quotes, blog posts and replies to others with questions or engage in a conversation, then lots of the none spammers will RT your posts and click your links. (Which some of go to YOUR blog or article with YOUR ads and affiliate links.)

You can drive traffic that way if you set it up right, the driven traffic can be only partially untargeted. The perfect follower is someone that only follows 50 or so and actually spends time on it. That way, a tweeted link can bring traffic for several days as it is still on the first page of someone that is picky about who they follow. Takes longer to build a semi-targeted list than just following and unfollowing other account followers. But with 30 minutes a day or so, you can have a decent following (20,000+) in 90 days or so. And a single tweet to your article or blog post can get 200-500 clicks over a weeks time.

Probably not the best use of traffic generation time, but if you were just going to watch 'Desperate Housewives' anyway, why not do both at once?

(It seems impossible to not have around a 50% spam or bot following if you have a decent count, in my opinion, probably why PB deleted his account.)
