Best way to Advertise Christian Banquet?

I have a ministry that needs funding and someone suggested having a banquet where local companies sponsor the meal and facility and people that attend the dinner make annual donations.

My question: What is the best way to advertise this to a local community (Twitter, Facebook, etc..)?

I would like to ask a couple of questions in the hope of helping to focus your efforts.

Do you currently have a base of followers/attendees that support your ministry? If not, then might I suggest a slightly different path. Instead of "Please come to my dinner and support my work" how about targeting a group of people that like to spend money on something they like and have the money go to your ministry.

For example, I have an uncle that is a avid Harley Davidson rider. Every year he calls all of his friends and promotes a HUGE Harley ride. The people show up, pay their money, ride their motorcycles, and the money goes to Toy for Tots. The point is, these people LOVE to ride their motorcycles with a big group and do not mind paying a few dollars for the chance to do something they enjoy.

You might have a clay target shoot for hunters, a fishing tournament for bass anglers, a golf tournament for golfers, etc.

    Just food for thought.

Good thoughts, thanks. I have explored the golf tourney option as well as a few others. The most profitable way is through a banquet as others have done so and done well with it.

Is Twitter or Facebook a good way to go in terms of raising awareness.

Why don't you have the local companies that are sponsoring you tell their customers that they are sponsoring a banquet for charity. I'm sure they have plenty of customers combined that they can communicate with via email or at their place of business.

Next would be creating a FaceBook event. You can create a FaceBook Fan page or a group page for your ministry and then add the banquet as an event. Then do a search on FaceBook for groups that have a local presence in your community. Get in touch with the administrator of the group and see if they will let you broadcast your event to their group which has individuals based in your local area.

If you use Twitter, send out a tweet and make sure to include the name of your local community area and ask if anyone is willing to donate advertising space to support a banquet for charity. If you use the name of the local area in your tweet, it should come up with other tweets that are being searched on Twitter by your local area name.

Last, shoot a video talking about the banquet and how it benefits the charity. Tell them in the video what number to call for information or if they would like to spread the word to other individuals locally. Submit the video to YouTube and other video sharing sites. Make sure to include the local area name in your title of the video for search. You can use a free service called Tube Mogul to help you with distributing your video to other video sharing sites.

Hope this helps and let me know how it works out!

Craigslist is also very powerful and free. They have a community events section you can post to.

Do you have a hard time keeping the post up there or does it often get deleted quickly?

It depends on what I'm putting out there. The flagging thing is really a pain if you have a group of people that think they are the internet police. Competition sometimes flags posts to get rid of people too. They just pay someone to do it.

I've not had trouble with posts in the Event area yet.
