Can ya help a newbie with pinging,social bookmarking and article marketing?

Hi, my first question is about social bookmarking sites. I've been reading that you need to have your blog bookmarked on these sites for more exposure and backlinks,etc. Does that mean I have to sign up for all of these different social bookmarking sites and add my links or what?(just the thought makes my head hurt)

Also, I seen something when I went to my wordpress dashboard>writing>update services. It showed a list of pinging services that will be updated after every post I guess. Any take on the effect of that?

My last question is about article marketing. What do y'all mean when you say article spinning? So far I have gotten only as far as submitting to ezinearticles.com..What others do you recommend? I know I have quite a bit of questions,but I want to clear my head with all of this stuff being a newbie in the game. Also, lead me to some WSO's that can help out with some things I've mentioned. I want to invest my money into this marketing stuff pretty deeply now..

I will try and make it all a little clearer for you.

Social Book marking - no, you do not have to sign up for all of them all at once. You will find a list of the to 20 bookmarking sites at Top 20 Most Popular Social Bookmarking Websites. Go through them and pick which ever one seems easiest to work with in the beginning. Start Learn how to use them one at a time and when you feel comfortable, add the next one in. Add bookmarking into your daily task list so that you work with at least one bookmarking site every day.

Pinging with Wordpress - Every time you publish a post, Search Engines are "pinged" to let them know that they must come around and crawl your site for new updates. To ensure that they don't forget about your site, it is a good idea to ping the search engines on a daily basis (you can ping different pages). You can do this manually using a pinging service such as Ping-o-Matic!

Article Spinning This is simply taking an article that you have already written and rewriting it using different words, so that it appears to be an original work. So write and original article and submit it to ezine articles, then spin the article several times and submit them to a variety of other article marketing sites. Here is a good list Top 25 Article Directories and Free Content Sites Ranked by Alexa and PageRank.

To add to social bookmarking topic...

*To build best links for google use "do follow" option from the list, this helps with indexing fast, yahoo is said not to care if the link is follow or not,
*Sign up for most popular services only and don't waste the time for all of them
*Be careful w the amount of links you build on daily basis, too many will hurt your rankings,
*Be consistent with your submissions, do it daily - for example 3 links a day for 1 site every day.
