Default A little concerned - Please advise

Hi Guys,

I have had my wordpress site live now for about 4 weeks, I have written about 10 posts and my site has only been indexed once by Google....just the main site.

I am using the XML-Sitemap plugin and I have put in various sites to ping on the 'Update Services' section on Wordpress. i have also pinged my site on ping o matic.

I have also posted articles on Sqidoo, Ezinearticles, hub pages etc....with a link to my site.

I'm not sure what's happening?

Can this affect the way my site is ranked in Google?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

It's only 4 weeks...patience.

I'm going to guess that your site:

1. Doesn't have a lot of content.
2. Is in a very competitive niche.

If both of those are true, it could take some time.

Again, patience. Just keep doing what you're doing on a consistent basis and
you'll be fine.

Thanks...

it doesn't have much content....

the niche isn't too competitive though....under 30,000 competing pages.

I'll just keep on doing what I'm doing.

It can take quite a while to get listed so, as Steven says, be patience and work on the site to get more content into it.

Sign up for Google Analytics. Install a plug in. See where your traffic is coming from. Google does a whole lot more than they let you see. If they have crawled your site they know about you.

There are billions of pages to index so they have to make decisions about what is important and what is not. Just because you put up a site no matter how great it is doesn't mean it's going to be an overnight success.

How are you using your keywords? Google seems to be paying attention to H1, H2, H3 etc., so use your best keywords in H1 when you design your site text, your next best keywords in H2, and so on.

That alone took my site from page 17 to page three in Google search results for those keywords.

Meta keywords? Old news, forget about it. Google has it seems.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

I have optimized my size to the hilt. H1 tags and all.....

I guess I just have to be patient.

You can go to Google Webmaster's tools and add it there, then submit your sitemap.

It won't be an instant fix, but it will help.

Here's a quick (5 minute) video intro on Google Webmaster's Tools:

Cheers,

Make sure you're allowing search engines to index the blog..

Go to Settings > Privacy and check 'I would like my blog to be visible to everyone, including search engines (like Google, Sphere, Technorati) and archivers'

By default Wordpress blocks search engines from indexing your site.

Hope this helps

You want all your pages listed on Google..good idea....that will draw more traffic and help ranking each page.

To get listed is simple.

1.)You need a PR5 anchor texted backlink or a link...aimed at every page of your website that you want listed on google..........and you need that 1 link from a PR5 website under the same topic as your site so keywords match up well.

2.) Try to get a least 5 other regular backlinks to each page of your website from other forums and ect

3.) Next go on google and submit each page you want listed - and as long as you have 1 PR5 back link aimed at each page, and a few extra regular links aim at each page...you'll get ranked listed on google in 24 to 48 hours...it's that simple.

I figure if you start soon, it will take you a 1/2 a day to full day to get this done.....but...you'll be on !!

Oh yeah....you need some high PR backlinks..ok...take your pick...I found this online a while ago.........most of the sites are up to date..... so good luck
