Can you get it released on a service that people actually read. That's the real question. Do any of your intended customers read press releases?

I totally believe in Press Releases to boost traffic but more importantly getting backlinks and a unique opportunity to invite interaction or networking. It also helps to build you up as an authority in your topic. Glenn |

If you're going to send out a press release it has to be news worthy. And make sure it's interesting, fun, exciting; or no one will read it. Make sure your PR is not a sales pitch and add your contact information without being too pitchy. Some press releases cost money so I would find a couple free ones and try your hand at it. This will give you some experience with PR's and then later you can decide if you want to pay for future PR's. Hope this helps. |

Press Releases are a great investment for backlink building, advertising your business to consumers, and establishing your company as a reputable source. I have had press releases that were indexed on 1000+ pages (all linking back to the targeted website). I have had press releases that were viewed 200000+ times. If you have an item that is newsworthy, make the investment in your business and use a paid distribution service. If it doesn't pay for itself in increased sales it will still provide valuable white hat increases in your organic rankings. |

A press release is just a release of information or an announcement about you, your business or a new circumstance about your business. The "press" is self targeted and therefore it's audience will be the people that see your release. This means that you will have to pick the "press" best suited to your needs. Press releases need to be written well. A great source for writing a good press release is Writers Digest and it's extended how-to book lists.

Press Releases are there for ONE thing. To get the media to pick up your story and broadcast it. If you get your story picked up, do you realize how much money in FREE ADVERTISING that is? Yea.. I guess its good for a backlink or whatever, but thats hardly what you want.

Press releases are incredibly powerful for SEO and especially linkbuilding. The other cool thing is that you don't have to spend a dime on promotion if you know the right sites to submit to. All the best Sean |

If you can come up with a good story, they work great offline with local newspapers, particularly if you include a good photo and choose a slow news time. Probably would not work for all niches though. Online, I think that article marketing is cheaper and more effective. |

PR if written well will definitely boost traffic. You are correct PR lists quickly if submitted to a couple of sites. I just published the press release yesterday (keyword rich) and same day evening it was listed.

Press Release Distribution Services - WebWire ($20 fee - but worth it) Free Press Release - Online Press Release Distribution Service (free or paid) Free Press Release Distribution & Free Press Release Submission (free) Some of my releases have been viewed in the thousands with good traffic to my sites and some have been flops. Normally I do some keyword research and choose terms that I feel I can get top rankings for using a press release for. I will go to Google and see what sites come up for those keywords. If I feel I can outrank them based on what I see using SEOQuake then I will make a press release on that term. These releases give you a good spurt of traffic but tend to die off after awhile as they drop out of the serps. To keep them on top I try to bookmark them at a few places to help them get indexed and ranked as fast as possible. TedK
