How do I drive more traffic to my blog?

Any suggestions here? I have a personal finance blog (smartincometoday) that has not been getting any traffic. Would love to hear anyone's thought on how I can drive more traffic. Also, would appreciate any feedback on my website itself. Thanks!

Advertise your existing content on Facebook...

Then run a retargeting campaign to advertise the next post to the people you've pixeled, and use that data to create a lookalike audience so you can advertise to the right audience when you scale.

But if you want free methods, and you're happy to put the work in, there are hundreds to choose from.

Guest blogging is one of the best, if you're wiling to create outstanding content and give it away.

No matter what you decide to do, you gotta build an email list from that traffic - that's going to become your most powerful traffic source in time.

Couldn't agree more. This is actually a great strategy. Get some interests that are related to your Blog, put each one in an adset and run a campaign for VC (view content).

If your pixel is correctly set, then as Michael said, you can retarget them anytime. This can easily be done from your ad manager by creating custom audiences for people who already performed an action on your website (visiting a specific link or spending X time in X pages).

All great tips. Retargeting works great. I've done a little guest blogging with moderate success. My two best traffic sources are Bing PPC and email marketing. Your point about building an email list is absolutely spot on.

Since you're new you should read the rules. Promoting your website (by asking for comments on it) is a violation of the forum rules. Not making it an actual link is not an approved work-around.

    Hi,

Quite a few ways you can do this. The fastest way to get traffic is to pay for it using Facebook or Google Ads.

Seeing that I am a Facebook ads guy, I would recommend that you create a blog post, then create an ad campaign with traffic objective to promote your blog post.

My advice is to also place the Facebook and Google pixel on your blog so that you can build audiences of people who have consumed your content.

In terms of free traffic strategies there are loads but free traffic takes time to setup(unless you have large social media audiences or a big email list.

However the most effective free traffic strategies are creating optimised Youtube Ads, posting in quora, forum posting and also hanging around in facebook Groups.

    Hope this helps!

I see you only have a blog post published 4 days ago. It's not surprising you don't have traffic yet. Here are my pieces of advice:

    1. The fullscreen popup to grab my email is really annoying. Don't be that kind of annoying person. I would never visit your blog again if I were your visitor.
    2. Provide real value. 30+ articles on, and then you can consider doing external SEO. Right now, any traffic that it will come it will leave soon because there is no valuable content there.
    3. I think you should use a different word instead of resources. When I think about resources to make money, I don't expect to see web hosting and premium WordPress themes.

    I hope this helps.

To confirm, are you getting any traffic at all or just a low amount?

I would start by optimizing for Seo and posting on social media. Is paid traffic an option? Ppc could work well.

Syndicate your blog out to as many social media platforms as you can.
Build a simple video based around your blog and post that on youtube
Try and focus your blog around keywords that you can see are popular, relevant to your website focus, will get you special attention on google
Look for related areas to your website focus and write blog content that appeals to those areas that will attract traffic back to your website.
Visit relevant forums and comment to again make contacts and attract interest.
You need to add more content to your site.
Keep on grafting and you will make it.

One of the free methods besides YouTube video is Quora.

The most important thing is not to engage in spam. Give real answers to questions. The first week just to answer the questions and then insert the different links to your site. It brings traffic. Just do not be limited to 1 account. The more accounts, the more traffic.

3_ comment on those facebook groups , choose 5 best posts for each group then comment them

For me, social media is one of the best ways to drive free traffic to your website or blog. I would recommend Pinterest and Facebook, both work great. But if you really want to build social media followers and get conversions, Pinterest is simply the best. Before you go into paid traffic, make sure you monetize your blog, otherwise, you will lose your money.

These are all really good tips. Blogging is getting harder and harder to succeed, I believe, because of the constantly changing Google alogrithims and millions of blogs competing for the same keywords. No matter your blog's age, reputation or size, you definitely want to master paid advertising. That way you are in control of your traffic and don't have all your eggs in one basket.

Ever heard of viral traffic or refferral traffic? I think they are the best strategies right now. And it is even better if you have a good traffic source like email traffic/ solo ads.

Combing both can increase your traffic to your blog. Of course, this assumes you must have a following first, therefore always build a list!

Content marketing needs money, time and effort. You need to advertise your blogs on facebook, twitter and linkedin. Once you have enough contacts you can start remarketing ads for new content. Keep a subscribe option on your blog and encourage visitors to subscribe. Send your new blog post directly into visitors inbox. Build a loyal audience and use social media to drive traffic on your blog posts.

    Sure, I can help.

There are lots of good ways to drive traffic to your blog, and many are already listed here on this thread. There's one thing that's been left out that is critical, at least in my opinion, to the success of any blog. And that is quality content.

Sure, quality content wont bring you traffic overnight, but it will help generate a loyal following for those who do visit your blog. This is important because your followers will share on social media, and your blog will begin to gain momentum. Slow and strong will naturally bring you backlinks, increase your authority, and move you up on Google. You will begin to get organic traffic, which is the best kind (again, in my opinion).

Active traffic driving techniques are still a great way to go, and will help you get a jump start.

Just remember, as mentioned above, you must have quality content. If you are not providing serious value to your visitors, your blog will go nowhere. As you write a post, ask yourself how this post is going to solve a problem, or provide deep value in some other way. If you cannot answer the question, do not write that blog post... find another topic to blog about. Also keep blogging regularly to keep the content fresh, valuable, and current. This is not a get rich quick business. Focus on how you can help your audience and the money will flow.

    I hope this helps.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest buying some ads.

It's an awesome feeling to actually have control of the type and amount of traffic you want.

That being said, the hard part is finding the right fit for your business and budget. There are a lot of outright scam "traffic" sellers. It can cost you some money to find the quality but if you stay in for the long run, it is a good investment.

I get 70 visitors a day from a safelist and get sign-ups daily. It really works but you have to upgrade in order to see the perks. There's brilliant marketing in the works. I don't have to click on ads since I'm rejoicing the perks as a "gold member".

Blogs require a lot of patience to get going.

Focus on SEO optimization with a plugin like Yoast SEO.

Also, comment on the newest posts of huge blogs in your niche.

    Hope this helps!

Get social..! No matter who your target audience is, they will be on a social network, somewhere. While there are ways you can find them through paid services (more on that later), creating content surrounding your industry or your products and services will draw followers in. Even if your market is niche, you will find a following with consistency and unique, quality content. Customer service and engagement can all be done from social media, and this does nothing but help cultivate your community. Grow and groom it, and they'll give you some love in return.
    Best of luck

Don't ignore Slideshare - but make sure to upload a lot of good quality presentations instead of just doing 4 or 5 slides. A good Slideshare presentation that is featured on the front page can end up getting thousands and thousands of views and the Slideshare website gets a lot of traffic.

Make your presentation visually attractive and add bite-sized bits of information in each slide so that it is easy to digest.

Also, don't just do one and hope for the best. Do a couple a week and you will start to get traction, especially if your presentations are easy to read and contain useful information.
