Need traffic and email list building ideas.

Current status.
We have a great website but need to build more traffic. We're working on SEO but the pagerank is low. We're working on backlinks, but only a few "stick" and google is not recognizing many of them. We're submitting articles, and expect to see some results in the future.

To do next (your input is welcome);
How to get more traffic. How to collect email addresses.. We would like to get more eyeballs on the website. And we need to give readers a reason to join an email list.

If you had this website, what would you offer as an e-book or download, or any other type of incentive to get readers to join an email list?

I would make a short report that I would give away to opt-ins. Depends what niche you're in though.

A free report would be cool. "Top 10 Shoe Trends For 2010" or something like that. Collect optins using Aweber.com.

What is your end goal? What do you want to do with the site ultimately?

Thanks for your response.

Ultimately this is to generate affiliate sales through links on the pages.

The challenge is to find a reason for people to join the email list and a reason for them to return to the website via email messages.

Frankly, we're struggling to find "hot" motivating ideas for this.

Your overall suggestion is good, but a report on shoe trends is unlikely to be very enticing? Google is a good source for shoe trends? It's worth a try.

We're stumped! Not creative enough?

Can you/anyone suggest any other motivating ways to entice people to join the opt-in list?

Offer an opt-in free report -

You could do it on "how to store and maintain your shoes for the longest life"

Things to discuss:

Do those suede sprays work?
Why you don't want to put shoes in the attic or basement
Best storage solutions - racks vs shoe boxes vs plastic shoe containers
When is it best to repair a shoe or get new ones
Dangers of buying used shoes
When to consider additional arch support in shoes you buy
DIY fixes to polish scuffed shoes
What is in the perfect shoe kit
Is it a good idea to soak your feet in the shoes in water to fit them to your foot?
and perhaps a bonus guide to buying shoes online.

	So, you want to sell me another way to easily make "X" dollars in "X" days? ROFL too funny! IM success requires hard work and lots of time. Most newbies do not survive the steep learning curve. Anyone who says otherwise is probably selling you a fantasy.
