I am building a video membership site. I was thinking about doing a $1 3 day trail. I see that a lot of other people are doing this for other membership sites. Should i do this ?? Some people have told me that a lot of people will sign up, download everything, then cancel. |

It would surely works! Instead of just 3 days trial, why not offer 30 days, so the members have time to look around the member area and decide whether they want to continue their membership after the trial had ended. DCB |

Yes, the $1 trials work. It gives the visitors to your site a low cost way of checking the content. It reduces their barriers to entry to your site which 99% of the time is the price. Once in, if your site has genuine value you will retain a high percentage of customers. I have a membership site in a non IM niche and have tested the $1 trial (well £1 in my case as it caters for the Brits only) for 1 day, 3 days and 7 days. 7 days came out the clear winner in my niche. You'll always have people who sign up, grab everything...then bounce. That's just part of the game here in the internet marketing world. Personally, I've bought several products with the 7 day try before you buy thing. No complaints on my end. I signed up for Dan Kennedy's insider circle with the 90 try before they wack your card. I stayed with them for over 3 years before I canceled. Same thing with Terry Dean. I was in his group for like a year. I'll have to agree with Riz, the 7 day is probably better. You can even push the envelope further and do a 30 day trial. This may sound crazy, but most people will forget to cancel and you'll get at least a one month payment out of them. That's one of the ways the "gurus" are able to do it. So many of us just forget to cancel. Also, make the fear of "loss" greater than they can bear. If your stuff is so good that they would be terrified at the thought of getting rid of it, they'll not soon leave. Good luck with your site. Cheers, Shane |

I did a $1 14 day trial on a membership site that costs $97/month. I've been a member for 16 moths now and will continue to be a member for as long as it's available. ![]() Also, if you're worried about people downloading everything and canceling, set up your site to drip content based on how long they've been a member. There are some pretty affordable solutions for setting up dripped content. I'd try a 7 or 14 day trial and give them access to the entire first month of content. As well as Part 1 of an unadvertised bonus. Then deliver part 2 in the 2nd month. |

Just wondering how to handle the back end, one time offer. I will be offering resell rights to videos. Maybe i should drip the resell rights download links after the 7 day $1 trail ??? |

I don't normally correct people's spelling, but here I'm doing it out of concern for you. Many of your potential customers would not understand what you meant by a "$1 trail." (Is that like the beginner's trail at a ski resort?) It should be a "$1 trial." The fact that you've misspelled the word so many times indicates that you need to pay special attention so you don't lose customers. Good luck with your member site! Sincerely, Marcia Yudkin | |
