I should know this but am having a brain fart. Are PLR ebooks, articles, videos etc the ones you can use as is and also rewrite or change around and use as if it is yours. What material can you use where you still have to keep the original authors info??

PLR varies dependent on what is offered and the limitations -very few Private Label products allow you to completely rewrite everything - most are allowable to be resold
(resale rights) or Private label rights with set limitations (you can add your name but you can not alter it) you need to consult the file that is included with the purchase or do your homework BEFORE you buy . . . you can PM me if you need more data but many PLR have restrictions on how they can be used. |

i can see it can get a bit confusing. Found this info:
1) Unrestricted Private Label Rights – the most flexible of all rights and therefore most valuable. You can do nearly anything with these products including renaming, branding and selling as your own, editing, and bundling with other products in a package. You can also give them away, and you can sell or giveaway rights for others to resell, master resell, or private label. The danger with giving these rights is nothing prevents buyers from turning around and selling them the same day at ½ price and “stealing” your sales. 2) Private Label Rights – similar to unrestricted in that you can rewrite, edit, and call products your own. But usually they have some limitations like only sell above a certain price and cannot give for free. 3) Master Resell Rights – Resell Rights, vs. Private Label Rights allow you to resell products but not edit them in any way. You cannot call them your own, you cannot add or edit the content. With Master Resell Rights, you can also give away the resell rights to others, and often you can give away the Master Resell Rights, allowing others to resell the resell rights. 4) Resell Rights – these are the weakest of all rights and therefore least valuable. You can only resell the product. You cannot change it in any way and you cannot giveaway or sell resell rights. |

Actually, in my experience the PLR (private label rights) is just that: you put your own private "label" = your name, your company etc. And yes, you can change them as much as you want. That's why a decent PRL product comes with the source files.
Resale rights can be MRR = Master Resale Rights, meaning that not only you can sell them but you can sell the right to resell, too. If it is not "M" just RR - then you can just sell the product itself but not the rights to sell. In both cases MRR & RR) you can NOT modify the original. EDIT. It seems while I was writing you found the complete answer

Actually, PLR and MRR and RR mean nothing. What you "get" is what the author says you get in the rights text file.
I've seen so many different things I came to realize that the MRR-PLR-RR has to be defined. George Wright |

Hi Bbminded!
With an unrestricted PLR product, you can do what ever you what with it: (make changes in the content, rename the products, add your name as the author, add your website, link) with a PLR, you can change certain things only (see the resell right file) With MRR, you can sell the product and the Right to resell it and with a RR license, you can only resell the product! |

Yes, I sell PLR videos and I get questions all the time about it. Another common restriction is whether or not you can give the product away. Make sure you pay special attention to that!
Some products can be given away for free, while others may have restrictions such as a certain price you must charge, whether or not you can sell on ebay, and so forth. Matt |

I'm guessing our desire to quantify PLR is daunting because many IM'ers do not follow the standard concepts they market any way they see fit; this can be confusing to peeps who want to promote a "private label" -
so you are better off using the ideas and creating your own product (s) so you don't have any serious questions or violate copyright law. Still I believe the likelihood of being sued over resale of PLR is not a huge concern unless you really abuse this trust. It is an ethical consideration - It seems most PLR's are only interested in a back linking of traffic anyhow. There are of course always exceptions to the rule but really good PLR's are just that - you can alter them any way you see fit. |
