Hard to beat that deal if you are new to the whole HTML thing plus a beginner can plug all the seo in the sidebar .

There is just no proof that wordpress ... blog or static site will rank in any order.

What guarantees ranking is quality content arranged in a way that the keywords are easy for the spiders to find and incoming links (admitedly simplified version) .

Not busting anyone's chops here ..... Just saying that because you hear that one thing is the way to go does not make it true . No matter how many times you hear it .

Hi Troy!
As I said, It will be good if he start with his own domain name... and also it will be good to have a good autoreponse service.
Wp is easy to set up and there is a lot of support for it, because there are a lot of developers...

I don't know yola, I can't say anything about their services

But, you give him good advice! the best to start without spending alot!

Read XFactor's posting in the Adsense section.
Read Keith Kogane's posting to see what he does.
Sometimes that's easier said than done, but it's true.

I am sure all of us have once or twice fallen for some product and hype that we didn't really need.

This is part of the game, but...

Just keep that in mind and try to pinch yourself before you spend some money and ask yourself if it really brings you forward with your chosen strategy.

Essentially making money online boils down to two things:

1. Making a great offer to a starving crowd (buyers)
2. Drive traffic to that offer

Point one could be many things.
- Affiliate offers
- AdSense site
- Your own product
- eBay store site etc.

And then of course traffic, which could be from:
- Article Marketing
- SEO
- PPC etc.

So, pick ONE strategy from each point above and get going.

Perhaps for newbies I would recommend to go for the AdSense model (Xfactor's course mentioned here might be a good fit) or... Affiliate review sites (Longer learning curve. Need to learn how to pick high converting offers and pre-sell them)

For traffic, perhaps he easiest low-risk strategy is Article Marketing to begin with on EzineArticles.com.

This will ensure that you don't get overwhelmed.
I agree! My sister's been on here for less than a year and is so excited about the people and info on this site, that I decided to join as well. It's easy to get overwhelmed because every thread is so interesting and full of data (which more often than not, leads you to ask yourself questions, which leads to more online research because you may not know exactly what they are talking about ) So, stay focused. Pick a couple of areas to focus on. Read. Learn. Develop. But pick something you LOVE! The rest (and $$$$$) will follow!

As said above, you don't need to spend money to make money online, but it helps a hell of a lot.

Personally, yeh, buy into war room because then you're supporting this extremely helpful forum and there is SO much on the inside of that private forum, it's hard to fully grasp what a steal this is.

Aside from that, the $$$ would be best spent on a start up infrastructure (hosting at least) and decent content.

Need a website or custom web application? Want to develop the next big thing?

Well you don't have to spend a lot. I started out without money.

All you need is hosting/domainname... I recommend Hostgator
There are a bunch of sites where you can get free templates for your website, so you don't need to spend money on a layout

A layout shouldn't be anything fancy...a simple squeezepage will do.

Anyway I built my website myself. It's not that hard. I see you have technical skills so that should be piece of cake for you.

Also this is VERY IMPORTANT... You need a great autoresponder....definitely go for Aweber!

If you don't know anything about marketing then sign up for free newsletters from gurus such as Eben Pagan, Frank Kern, Mike Filsaime, John Reese, Ewen Chia. I barely scratched the surface. These guys send very useful information and for you left to do is....soak it up. Soak all information up that they give! You don't need to buy fancy products if you don't have money. =P

Or go to www.thirtydaychallenge.com and learn the basics of marketing for FREE.

Also, save a little money for PPC .... but I would save this for last and first try to generate FREE traffic.

Really you don't need a lot of money to get started.

Oh my bad you don't have knowledge of websitebuilding...

hmm try www.myfreewebsitebuilder.com

I bit the bullet and used the search
function here to figure out what
business model I could work with.

I found one that I could set
up for free and within a week
I made a profit.

It was a month before I purchased
a domain name and hosting.

I learned everything I could
here - I invested in WSO's about
my business models and I never
looked back.

Look around, there's plenty of
help here before you spend
your cash.

I'm planning to join the War
Room myself - from what I
can see, it's a treasure trove
full of money making ideas
that anyone can use.

So if you spend any of that
$160 join the War Room and
see what the pro's are doing.

That way you are not out on
that limb by yourself.

matrix,

It seems like you're really fresh off the turnip truck (no offense meant here, we all had to start somewhere), and I'd caution against buying ANY tools/stuff right now because it's just going to result in information overload and confusion.

A good place to start would be War Room membership ($37), as it'll give you access to the War Room and all the good stuff in there. Hang out in the warrior forum as much as you can, observe and ask questions, and try to get a feel for what you'd like to do. There are many aspects to IM, and you must first familiarize yourself with them, and then decide on a path to take. Don't be in a hurry to select a path or method that you might regret later, due to not getting all the facts initially.

You almost certainly want to get yourself familiar with blogging, as it is very helpful to know how to set up a blog no matter what you do in IM. A good place for free Wordpress video tutorials can be found here - Free WordPress Tutorial Videos , you can go straight to the blogger.com site for video tutorials on how to set up blogs there.

Withhold the urge to spend anything beyond the War Room membership just yet. Educate yourself through this forum and the free resources you'll find just from communicating with the members here! Don't dive into things when it's pretty obvious you're still not really sure what you want to do yet - get all the facts first.

Oooh, War room membership WAS good advice.

I have found many useful things there.

Ok, so some people just want to get you on their list but it's ok, I can unsubscribe if I don't like them, which I have, or I learn keep receiving their emails because I like the emails.

Anyway, get the War Room membership and go from there. I really will not tell you what else I think you should buy because I think everyone has their own journey (oops, starting to sound like one of those reality shows where people like to find love and always talk about this special journey they're on, and really are just talking about how this 6 week show will make them famous for 15 minutes, ok, way off track here).

Anyway, ya, just do the War Room first and foremost and decide where you want to go from there. I also suggest you educate yourself just be reading this forum and learn more about article marketing and SEO.

The first thing you need is Market Samurai, but you can start off with it free, go grab the free trial to get started. Hopefully you can get your market research done during the trial, and be off and making money, so you can upgrade to the full version. Go through all of their free training BEFORE you start your free trial, so you can hit the ground running.

If you are not already a War Room member, that should be #2, so you have access to everything, and can place a WSO here. (Might want to hold on to $20 for that WSO.) You can learn a lot from people here. Just make sure you don't follow everyone's directions, choose a method and stick with one method for now.

#3 You need a domain name.

#4 You need hosting. (Since your hosting is recurring, you might need more than one month's fees out of your $160.)

#5 Get busy. This is of course free, but often the most overlooked ingredient.

If you're with Moreniche, they already have a boatload of free templates for their affiliates to use. Try them. It's still going to be a challenge getting a site up with a template because you do need some skills to edit the template and to upload, etc. I wouldn't buy a fancy html editor if I were you. I'd find a free one and work with that. No matter how much you pay for an html editor, you still need basic site making skills. Your time would be well spent in learning how to build a site, and how to get a Wordpress blog up and running.

If you are you are looking for the highest Return On Investment (ROI), then it has to be the WAR ROOM. For $37 you'll save thousands. In fact I'd say the $37 investment is probably worth $3700, if not more....

HI

First buy a domain.... with to keywords in it that related to your topic you are interested in making money with...

Next get a cheap hosting account and pay for 1 year.. cost maybe $60-$70 per yer.

Then invest in a program like wordflood.com so you can rewrite plr articles..

Buy some plr article packages related to your domain..

Now install wordpress on the domain..

Add some of the articles to it you have rewritten..

Now apply for adsense... so you can start making money from your site.

Go to clickbank and find some products related to your site you can add to your blog.

Now start submitting some articles to the article directories to start building backlinks.. and also submit your site to link directories..

you can free software online to do both.

Hope this helps to start.. all can be done for under $160

Thanks
Tom

This is a good way to get an "apprenticeship" in internet marketing while making money that you can add to your own war-chest.

Hi, Don't do anything at first. Read the forums and free sites like mine below. Focus on keyword research (don't buy any tools), pick a market you are interested in that has good affiliate products, then focus your learning on seo and article marketing.

Don't get distracted by all the offers whizzing around. When you pick a niche make sure your business medel is one that lasts, not one that just promotes the next big thing. For instance I have a bodybuilding blog, with a capture page and then offer affiliate products. My business is centred on bodybuilding rather than one affiliate product and the site will keep getting visitors because of my seo efforts. Hope this helps.

Don't spend any of your money. You can generally find anything online for free in some format or other. Try clickbank. They're a good way to get started in IM. I've been making money through them for almost 10 years now. They send you a check ever 2 weeks. It's a great program for affiliate marketing. But save your money buddy.

Remember that 91% of Internet Marketers who tried to earn money online in the past year have not earned a penny. This is a fact from a recent survey. I believe it.

1. Create a valuable product.
2. Create a sales page.
3. Drive traffic to it.
4. Watch the $$$ come to your bank account.

****

That's the super-uber-simplified version of how to make money with your own products. If you don't know anything then just take an existing product which sells well, make a better version of it and have better marketing.

Oh, you want to know where to invest your money? I'm not a member of the WarRoom but as you've read in this thread: There seems to be a lot of value there, so that's what I suggest, too.

I am new as a member of this forum, not new to IM or wandering around this forum. Lots of great advice here. I will probably be joining the War Room because of all the praise for its value.

My only caution would be to set a certain amount of time for research and learning on the Warrior Forum. Early on, it is fine to spend a lot of time here, but once you complete that stage, get off it and go take action. Does not matter if you are not successful right out of the gate. Probably won't be. But by taking action, you get experience and discover what mistakes were made. The next project, site, or campaign will be that much better for it.

Don't get sucked into spending all your time on forums like this, although this one (WF) is the best. I would venture to guess that there are people who spend way too much time here and not enough time building their business and taking action. What I am saying is this is a great place to gather information, but set a limit to how much time you spend here.

Nothing is going to substitute the actual "doing" part of it.

Here is another great thread like this one. I have it bookmarked.

If you have only $100 to invest on internet marketing, what will you do?

I took some good advice. If you have a service to offer, do that and then learn IM as you make money from selling your service.

Another bit of good advice was, find something you think is working (making money) and duplicate that starting out. Which is what I am doing for my WSO. The only difference is that I am trying to give more value for the customers money. I saw a WSO (warrior special offer) and said to myself, I think I can do a better job than that. Yes it will be more work, but I want to establish a reputation for quality and I want to grow my business.

My starting budget is $100 given to me as gift. So far I have spent $37 on the Warrior Forum. 8 bucks on a domain name. Free website on weebly.com and I'll spend another $20 on a WSO (warrior special offer). $65 total so far. My goal is to double my return on investment, which I think is possible inside of December and I am sure I can do it inside of Dec-Jan. Of course I have spent a lot of time just learning what I am doing...about two weeks in my spare time putting this all together, but I consider that an investment as well. It's better than sitting around watching TV!

Good luck to all my fellow newbies out there. Let's make some money!

I would literally not buy anything. I would start with the 30 day challenge to get indoctrinated into affiliate marketing and simple html and what not.

This is turning out to be a very interesting post..... here goes my entry:

1. War Room membership - something I'm going to buy very soon (after I get to 50 posts)
2. A Good WSO that has 50+ positive reviews - you;ll have to digg for it
3. A nice domain name
4. A professional logo for your business - costs $5 at DP forum - lots of ppl selling it
5. Hostgator hosting

(or)

Simply head over to DP - and buy a Pre-existing Blog , you can get a good one for $150 bucks ...... maintain it .... grow it.... profit from it...

Keep your money in your pocket mate. You can learn a lot from this main forum for FREE.No expensive products to buy or nothing.Just pure information from helpful warriors.

And if you're still not convinced with FREE info and planning to buy info products, check the WSO section 1st as you can get quality product for bargains.

PS:Learn to bookmark good posts from warriors and if it's possible, copy the exact thread and save it in your computer.

Matrix, the first thing you have to do is build a plan of action. Define what you want to do and how you are going to do it, break everything down into a sequence of logical steps.

Then identify what you need in order to achieve what you want and then spend your money on that.

Thanks,

wow, lots of ideas, and advice here.......well I am a newbie too.....and I have been here for three days now and trying to read as much as possible...and this post has more to offer and which makes sense to a newbie....I boought the $1promotional hosting from Host The Name......and the domain for 5yrs and cj wordpress, the biz mgr.......I think all of them cost me a total of $100. (hosting for 1Yr). All of them I think from warrior promotion. I will follow thru with many of the advice here...
But I also saw a member offering basic web design 4 pages for $25.actually first three for $15.......and another full site for $465 for ready to go(turn key)affiliate site on your domain with promise to make $60-100.(in 6 month) Debating whether to get the ready made one instead of going thru all the time that i have to put building this.......I guess i should just keep reading and take it in before i decide on anything....So Thank you all for all your great information, your knowledge, experience and helping others. May be one day I can do this.....hopefully soon!!

1. Join the War Room. Put your money back in your pocket and read. Just relax, set the money aside.

2. Buy a domain, once you have a nice solid idea of what you're going to do and what would be a good domain to do it from. NameCheap is often recommended. I use GoDaddy, but most people hate them.

3. Get a web hosting account, and start building a web site. Using HostGator for the hosting and WordPress for the building is frequently recommended.

You should still have about $100 at this point, along with a much better idea of what you're doing and why you're doing it and how to proceed.

I've really got alot from reading this myself, also a total newbie to the forum. I cannot wait to become a full member of this place!

If after joining, you're still looking for nich idea's, maybe it's something so nich that members here haven't even thought of it yet, etc. I'd do a seach for a chap called James Jones... He's tool called 'Micro Nich Finder' is what gave me an interest with the whole idea of IM and finding the best nich to market too, at the right time! This Is what I intend to do myself. Don't fall fail to wasting $160 on PPC expecting great things from the off. Sure, you might get a few bucks, but think before you hit something that'll hurt if it all goes 'pete tong!'

Hi!

I'm kind of a newbie to IM myself but the past weeks of trying the find out what I'm suppose to be doing to make money I happily discovered that alot of things are actually Free.

In fact it seems to be the new thing to do, give away a few free things before getting them to buy. Therefore your money could go along way!

What do you guys think about that ?

Just try some stuff out. Everyone has different opinions on what software is better. Personally I like magic submitter better then SE Nuke, but I have both of them. SE Nuke does a good job and is updated frequently, as with magic submitter. Magic submitter you can add sites to, and there are a lot of videos to show you what you need to do.

The best spinner, in my opinion is the best spinner. I love it and use it daily with my projects.

Article marketing robot is my choice for article marketing software though I just started using it so I don't have a great review for it yet.

* Tools are not going to make money for you, just so you know. There is no magic bullet or everyone would use it and it wouldn't work anymore. It is really up to you and what kind of backlinks you like to build.

I forgot to mention scrapebox, scrapebox is probably the most powerful tool you can buy for the price. It is a one time fee and it has great updates. It is mainly used for scraping blog, and commenting on them but also has many other uses.

Good Luck

Don't buy anything until you've clarified this:

Carefully consider/choose your business model.

Clarity is a huge part of IM success.

IM is actually pretty simple: you can sell only one of two things:

1. Products
2. Services

That's it!

And selling products or services online happens in the same basic way for everyone, no matter what they're selling:

Traffic > Opt-in page > Autoresponder series (or e-zine) > Sales page

That's it! It's just that simple. (We IMers tend to overcomplicate things.)

But no matter what your niche is, or whether you're selling a product or a service, do you know what your business model is?

A business model is the framework or skeleton of your business. Essentially there are three types of online business models:

1. Membership-based model

A membership-based business model allows you to build a community of people (your members) who are as passionate about your subject as you are. Your membership fees can be monthly or annual, but either way, you're building recurring, passive income.

There are a lot of resources and information out there to help you build a membership-based business if you're interested in doing this.

2. Product-based model

Selling products allows you to maximize your time and effort by selling items over and over again. This can be hard goods or it can be information products. Information marketing is it's own business model under the product-based model. Information marketing allows you to take your brain to the bank by creating a product ONCE based on what you know and selling it over and over again.

I see someone has already recommended affiliate marketing. You can choose to market either products or services as an affiliate.

3. Service-based model

Selling services can be great for 1) generating quick cash (as in the case of article writing or video producing) and 2) establishing your expertise and getting testimonials.

However, in the long run, your goal should be to offer services at a PREMIUM. The biggest advantage of IM is LEVERAGE. You're able to leverage your time, money and expertise exponentially online. We all have just 24 hours each day. Time to get ruthless about what you expect for those hours you spend in IM each day. Expect more of yourself and more from your business friends, clients, partners, etc.

What results are you getting for those hours you spend online each day? Ultimately, your services should be at the bottom of your funnel and cost the most since they involve your time and personal attention. (We all have a limited amount of time each day.)

The fun (and confusion) comes in with all of the endless mix-and-match possibilities of the above models. If you're just starting or still struggling to make money, keep it simple:

Pick just ONE!

1. Pick ONE niche. (Something you're interested in and know something about.)

2. Pick ONE target market for your product or service. (Who will buy what you're offering? The more specific you are, the more you narrow it down, the more successful you'll be.)

3. Pick ONE business model.

Now that you're clear about what business you're in, FOCUS!

F -- Follow
O -- One
C -- Course
U -- Until
S -- Successful

In IM, it's easy to put the cart before the horse. Take a deep breath, step back and consider what type of business you're REALLY want. Don't worry about getting traffic or buying that expensive traffic product until you know 1) what your business model is, 2) what niche you're in and 3) WHO your target market is!

Successful business people will tell you that MARKETING is more than half the effort that's needed for success anyway. So pick a niche, target market and business model. Then spend most of your time and effort marketing it.

Hope this helps!

Michelle

This will ensure that you don't get overwhelmed.

Thanks for recommending The War Room. I need to sign up soon myself.

I agree with you about the information - there's tons of it. So, to keep from getting overwhelmed I just do my best to learn a little each day. When you learn something that's interesting to you, keep learning more about that thing until you can potentially create income out of it. From my experience and reading about successful entrepreneurs and internet success stories you can strike it rich of really anything. The key ingredient I think that separates those that make it from those that don't is consistency. Do a little every day and don't give up and success will find you. Money will follow.

First you need to figure out what it is you wanna do, then get yourself a mentor to help you, this saves sooo much time, keep hold of your money until you have done this.

hi if you are going to promote affiliate offers I would promote wsos first as more people are likely to buy these cheaper products or 7 dollar mall if in another niche.
