using other peoples reviews

2 replies
Hi Everyone,

I have this idea for my site and wonder if its legal, I think it is and just wondering what you all thought.
I'm marketing an stock investment course as an affiliate, I think I can get away with copying and pasting reviews of that course from other websites and puttting those reviews on a review page on my site and saying these are all independent external reviews.
Of course I will be referencing all the material with the URL links ( gonna make them non clickable so I dont lose the commission ). I dont think thats breaking any copyright laws as Im not trying to rip it off and clearly referencing all the material, rather like writing a book and referencing all the external material giving credit where its due.
SO what do you all think about this idea ?

Thanks

Mohamed

    I think the question is whether or not you have permission to use those people's reviews. Assuming that they were placed on someone's site with the permission of the person giving the review, I'm not so sure that YOU also have permission to use the content.

    Imagine if you did an interview with Tom T. and Tom told you that he was going to use the interview on HIS site. A month later, you see your interview plastered all over youTube and a hundred other sites. How would you feel?

    Best thing is to contact the site owner and see if it's okay - I am sure that they will say yes but it's always best to check first.

    It's absolutely 100 percent plagiarism and copyright infringement without permission from the author. End of story.
