Public Domain content - how do you use it?

Hey guys,

How do you use it? I know where to get it but I'm not sure what to do with it.

I know you can sell it and publish it, whatever. But what's the point? I am sure I must be missing something.

But the content of PD is written in old terminology. Isn't that a roadblock?

I searched and found this humorous web page. Gee, I wonder what his key phrase is?

But what about duplicate content? I've not yet found a PD that was not previously published.

There are hundreds of ways that you can put public domain content to use. Using Public Domain content is my #1 means of making money online and offline.

Sure some of the content is old but is also very relevant to today, depending on what niche you are looking into.

The US Government is constantly putting out reports and "How To's" every day that become Public Domain material, those aren't old at all. You can take those reports, put your own unique spin on them and begin selling them right away.

There is some content that is public domain and never goes out of style.

Things like Napoleon Hill Think and Grow Rich - some have taken this, made into an ebook, and sold it.

I've seen things like architectural books, recipes, sewing patterns, etc. that get resold.

Some photos and graphics can be used for personal use, or to create prints to sell that can go on things like tshirts or coffee mugs.

Great artwork you don't have to pay for or get the rights to use.

There are a ton of great ideas - but you are only limited by your imagination!!! Think online evergreen e.g personal development. The lat 19th century/early 20th century was an amazng time in personal growth and literally THOUSANDS of books, pamphlets, courses were created that are public domain.

Then look at the OFFLINE world - a lot of people are making money there. You need to get a little creative but there are literally millions of opportunites....

Take a look at The Science Of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles. At least two people (Bob Proctor and Rebecca Fine) have dressed it up for modern times and are doing very well with it. It was originally published in 1911 I think. Use your imagination.

There's a lot of PD content on subjects that haven't
    become obsolete due to technology.

While republishing old positive thinking stuff is something
you CAN do, it's a pretty saturated area... and the
problem with books about making money or managing
people written 80 or more years ago is that they tend
to be written from a point-of-view we don't relate to
these days because of changes in culture, attention
    span, technology... lots.

Old PD content about fixing 1920s cars might not have
much appeal because the technology is very outdated.

However PD content about, for instance: blacksmithing,
glass-blowing, basket-weaving, eye exercises, folk medicine,
and so forth may be interesting and useful to today's
    readers.

Just because you can republish an old blacksmithing book
as an ebook doesn't mean anybody will pay you to download
it... but the content may be useful to attract readers to
a blog or build your email list.

I beg to differ! There is a HUGE demnand for this old stuff (if you know where they are)

Here is one RIGHT now on Ebay - Blacksmithing Blacksmith Forging Repousse - eBay (item 180449758506 end time Jan-01-10 16:30:20 PST) - not mine I hasten to add

Lots of people (including myself) repackage these old books/docs in creative ways and make money...
