Default Special Reports (PDF Files) How to Send?

I figured out how to make PDF files, save them and load them to places like Scribd.

But lets say I want to send the file to my list and include a link for them to click to open and read. How do I do that? Do I have to have it saved in a specific location.

Thanks!

You could just simply attach it to the email and send it that way. Very easy and no hosting required.

Or you can upload it to your host (if you have a domain and host) and email the link to it's location.

The best way to do it is to upload it to your website/hosting account...
Once you upload your download link will be

http://www.yourdomain.com/PDFFILENAME.pdf

I think it would be better if you let them download the files to their computers and then open the files to read.

Is there an alternative to hosting it on website.

How do people do it that use aweber when they send a clickable PDF?

Thanks!

Some spam filters will automatically send email with attachments to the spam folder.

for you to use a link the file has to be hosted somewhere or send a link to one of the document services that you mentioned.

If you have already uploaded to a document service, just send the link to your listing.

That will take care of it for you !

Some people use services that manage everything for you such as e-junkie etc.. but those you will have to pay for. Your best option is hosting it on your website and sending them the link. Just make sure that it is not an easy to guess link such as myebookname.pdf something like 1768book.pdf would be better.

Hi,

One more thing on e-junkie. You can get 3 months free with coupon code CRAFTBOOM and just offer it as a free item. Customers still go through checkout but there is no charge. This gives the added advantage of capturing names and emails. And you do upload your eBook to e-junkie so there is no hosting worries. After 3 months you can keep it for $5 a month if you want.

If you have a website that you promote from, it would be simple to put a link on one of your pages and send them to that page.

One thing that works very well, is to put your PDF into a zip file. That way, when someone downloads the zip file, they don't leave your page. Downloading a PDF takes them away from your site.

Yep, you have to put it somewhere people can connect to it in order for them to read it or for them to download it. I will explain Aweber in a moment.

You upload it to the public folder on your website. Yes, you need a website. Once you upload it to the same folder on your site as the one that contains your index.html (homepage) - it will be the way Vinny described it - http://www.yourdomain.com/PDFFILENAME.pdf

When you want someone to read your ebook, you give them that web address. If they left click on it, the ebook will start Adobe reader on their computer and they can read your ebook. (Assuming they have Adobe Reader.) Once the ebook is opened they can do a file-save to save a copy.

If they right click on the http://www.yourdomain.com/PDFFILENAME.pdf they will be given the option of just saving it.

Aweber and other autoresponder companies, store the names and email addresses you collect by giving people the "free" ebook. That little optin form on someones web site (the form that says Name: Email: "Click Here To Get The Book" is generated by Aweber when you set up a form in Aweber. Aweber then gives you a bit of gobbledegook code (Javascript) that you place into the HTML code of your home page. You place it into your site by using the HTML editor part of whatever webdesign software you use to build your site.

And before you drop that javascript code into your site you will make two more pages for your site. The first one is called a "Thank-you Page" the second one is the page that gives the link to people who have signed into your form. There is a place in Aweber where you tell Aweber the name of those two pages. Actually you give the full link to Aweber like this http://www.yourdomain.com/thankyou.html and http://www.yourdomain.com/downloadpage.html.

When someone gives you their name and email address by entering it into your form and submitting it to you (to Aweber), Aweber will automatically send them your thank-you page (the first thankyou page) on which you explain to people the fact that they must check their email to get the confirmation message Aweber will send to them in your name. Once they click "confirm" in that email, Aweber then sends them your second page (the download location page - on which you tell people the download location. (http://www.yourdomain.com/PDFFILENAME.pdf )

And when your new subscriber clicks on that link they get your pdf ebook.

There are other steps you add if you are selling the ebook. But learn how to give the free one first.

If you want a Free webdesign software, get KompoZer at kompoZer.org. There is an excellent, free tutorial for it listed about half way down the left-hand side of a website called thesitewizard.com. I am not an affiliate. Don't even know the guy, but he has a thorough tutorial for KompoZer.

Other software such as MozillaSuitt, Seamonkey, and Nvu were all earlier versions of KompoZer.

Does this help?

This is great Don.

Because so many sites are cracking down on promotional articles I was suggesting to a client to give customers a PDF file with product information.

So I can load this at an ebook site and the customer can read it there. But of course that has ads etc around it. So if he wants customers to have a clickable link to the file you are saying using his own website works...

But is there any other place I can host it without having access to his website and not having to use a site like Scribd that has other documents?
OR is that the whole point of sites like Scribd etc..to have an easy place to host documents and my other option would be the website?
