Hi Gang

I have the latest version of Camtasia, I want to import an MP4 but it says "Erro: No codc available to render this file...."

Does anybody know which codec I should download?

Phil,

Camtasia won't let you edit a MP4 file. If you can convert it to an AVI you can play around with it.

However, the conversion process sometimes corrupts the files (my experience ) so that may cause problems as well.

If anyone else has had success with this I will also be happy to read the reply.

Oh ok, yeah, I was going to do that but then I thought it could start to get screwed up changing one from format, to another, then back again (losing quality). Still, it's a workaround which I'll use for now.

Many thanks
Phil

Hi,

I've tried it before but this doesn't work in Camtasia.
However, I tried this site:
HandBrake

It's an open source software for video conversion.
I've had random luck with this because I never remember
the settings I use to successfully convert .mp4 to .wmv
or .avi for any editing.

I luck out. I quit the program. And when I need to use
it... I hit random buttons again.

Sorry I can't be of further use but that program has
helped me with the converting of .mp4 to different
formats just so I can import them into Camtasia.

Hey Asher - thanks. I use a free one too, one called Any Video Converter, just search in Google and it's there, recommended to me by a fellow Warrior.

This is not true if you have Camtasia 6.0.3 - I recommend the upgrade so that you can just import right into Camtasia

Hi Steve,

I have the latest version of Camtasia. If you can tell me how to successfully import a MP4 directly into Camtasia to edit it I would be very grateful.

Thanks in advance.

If you can't figure out the conversion, you could always just screen capture it using Camtasia.
