Default stupid amember mistake

Anyone know how to remove the protection from the /amember folder if you happened to be dumb enough to for some unknown reason set it to be protected?

I can't access amember at all now. Waiting on an answer from support, but it's been two hours now and I'd really like to get back to work.

Any help is appreciated.

One would think you should be able to edit a config file, etc., through FTP...but I have no idea which file.

FTP in and delete the file .htaccess from the directory you protected.

Hi David,

Just joined up over at Membership Academy. Glad I found your site. Maybe now I'll make some progress. I've been at this for two days and my brain is officially off. Hence... protecting the amember folder!

Anyway, I figured I should delete the .htaccess file, but there isn't one in the /amember folder, the one I protected.

I'm at a loss.

Thanks,
-Rob

What the hell??? The .htaccess is/was in there now. Deleted and I'm all good.

Seriously, I know I said my brain was officially off, but I specifically went into the folder looking for that file and it wasnt there. only a .listing.

Whatever. It's working again. And now with the help of your site David, hopefully I'll actually make some progress.

Thanks,
-Rob

It's some kind of law of nature. When you try to show the mechanic a problem with a car it won't happen when you are there. Take it home and it starts having trouble again. Same thing

It probably was hidden, usually .htaccess files are hidden by default by a lot of FTP clients.
