Default Anyone else having issues with Paypal?

I've been with Paypal for years and I never had a serious complaint. But lately I'm having to watch them with a hawk's eye to protect my account.

I recently had a chargeback that went on for weeks even though I issued a refund immediately. It was closed, then opened, then closed, then opened again... all for no reason. During this fiasco I wrote 6 emails to Paypal trying to get an explanation. I've still not had a single reply.

Then I had a withdrawal to my bank account which they mistakenly processed as a withdrawal FROM my bank account. The mixup caused me to go negative and get a penalty charge from my bank. Luckily, my bank reversed the charge when I explained the mistake by Paypal... but no word from Paypal on it.

The latest thing is a refund that I issued yesterday. I made sure there were sufficient funds in my Paypal account because my bank balance is low at the moment. But today I see that they are withdrawing the funds from my bank account!

I wonder if this is just a cluster of problems I alone am having or if others are seeing the same irregular/erroneous handling of their accounts?

I've been dependent on Paypal for too long and it's time to look for alternatives!

I can't stand PayPal. They issued rolling reserves to my account for no reason. I hardly make any transactions with my PayPal account, so it really was not necessary. For those of you who are fortunate enough to not have to deal with this, they basically hold 10-20% of every incoming payment you receive for a few months. According to them, this is to combat refunds/chargebacks, even though I rarely sell anything.

I'm thinking of starting a new account, or if anyone knows any decent alternatives, let me know. It's just difficult finding people who use anything but PayPal for transactions.

They actually blocked my account for a week, for no reason what so ever. In addition, I have multiple e-mails I use, and guess what, they deleted them all besides the primary. I had to verify my account multiple times in order to get it active again. And no matter what I did to verify it for some reason their verification system stopped me to do it!

Really really terrible if you ask me! But now all is back to normal (I hope)

I have had my account blocked before, for no reason. All in all though, I am very happy with PayPal. I have been with them for years, and they provide great service the vast majority of the time.

I have never encountered problems with PayPal (but see another thread on this forum: "PayPal Froze my Account Today").

However, it surely makes sense to use several payment processors (e.g. AlertPay, Liberty Reserve) rather rely on just one! Eggs in baskets and all that jazz!

I've had an unusual problem with PayPal, off and on, over the last several months. With the many posts on the WF from people complaining about PayPal, I have never seen a problem just like mine, though.

One of the clients that I write and edit for consistently pays all of us via PayPal each week. Usually I receive my payment without any problems whatsoever.

But there have been maybe five weeks over the last several months where PayPal refuses to accept my pay as an instant payment.

I have talked to reps from PayPal on the phone and they tell me the problem is on my client's end.

So I talk to the people I write for and they tell me that I am the only one who had the problem this week, everyone else's pay went straight into their PayPal accounts, so the problem is not on their end. Must be a problem on PayPal's end, they tell me.

What ends up happening is my client tries to break my pay into chunks and send separate transactions to pay me, but that has only worked once.

Then they try to send it as an e-check through PayPal, which takes up to an entire week.

It really irritates me when this happens, yet I can never get a straight answer from either side.

Anyone else been through something similar?
