IMers...why do you choose Mac or PC???

Hey guys, I am a die-hard Mac user and just love how efficient I can be with my "machine."

I would love to know why you guys and ladies choose Mac or PC for your internet marketing endeavors.

I built a career on Windows but am a mac fan now. I actually really, really wanted to use Linux, I had a project that required UNIX, but after wasting too much valuable time in forums trying to get a laptop to connect using wifi I decided it would be cheaper to use a mac which is based on BSD. So had Ubuntu been easier for me to configure (and some of those forum denizens been willing to help rather than call me noob and tell me to .. go away ..) I would have been using Linux now rather than have a house full of macs.

Back in 1984 when I signed online (if that is what you wanted to call it) all it had was some online text games and news services. No browsers or domain names just a network. Well, I had a Tandy 1000 (Radio Shack) computer.. It was slow and clunky and the cost was like $3.99 a minute.. My Dad liked to freak out when he got his bill..lol

Fast forward several years and I started using Mac computers and have never turned back since. I love my Macs, got 6 of them and soon thinking about getting another new IMac. They are fast, smooth working, great for graphics and over-all 100% better performance vs windows.

I've been with windows for years and years. Never really heard about mac until the raves from IMers. I so want a mac NOW! but then again most software and clients use windows so I'm still hesitating.

Maybe I should just get a macbook rather than a mac pc...and enjoy both OSes

Been using a PC for ages. Don't have any problems finding the software I want for them, or in operating them ... cost is right. Never saw any reason to use a Mac.

I have both Mac and PC.

With a Mac, I don't have to constantly look over my shoulder worrying about the latest virus threats, my PC choking as Norton anti virus randomly runs its latest check while I'm working. My computer slowing as it unknowingly picks up spyware and tracking software while I'm surfing the net.

I also love Mac for graphics and video editing, I keep my PC on hand for opening files that aren't Mac compatible.

I don't think the choice has much to do with IM though.
Its rather what you're used to.

I spent my entire life on PCs until a year ago when I bought a MacBook Pro, and I'm never looking back. I thought I'd miss all of the little applications I used, too, but surprisingly I don't.

Most Mac users just set up their computer to be able to run Windows. You can either partition a separate section of your HDD or virtualize Windows.

I bought a Mac and sold it after 3 weeks. I much prefer Windows as an operating system and found the Mac OS X to be a huge disappointment. Not to mention the frustrating compatibility issues.

I love PCs and can't wait to upgrade to Windows 7.

what does a mac have to offer that I don't already have on a PC? I have zero issues with a PC and I don't buy into all the mac hype.

I'm a PC and a MAC

2 Mac's (1 is laptop) and 3 PC's..

I am a raving fan of the windows power, but MAC are truly great machines... so I use both to avoid any upset or tension in the office...lol

still do for some applications, I love my Imac and have
converted a few friends as well.

People ask me why I like Mac better then PC and my answer
is: "It makes computing a pleasure again"

Lately I have been running Parallels on my iMac for the purpose of reviewing PC software. I keep an XP window open on my iMac screen where I do the review, while using Screenflow to record my entire monitor, audio and iSight cam. When done I just crop and export to iMovie and begin editing.

These videos are great for training outsource staff who generally respond with better quality work after watching them.

Best of both worlds.

I prefer the mac with Windows installed just in case I need it. I like to download different internet marketing software that only works on windows. Like Article submission software. I don't know of much internet marketing software out there that works on the mac. For me the Mac is best for Video marketing.

I sold used Macs for years. Never could bring myself to use one. Just did not like the way they operated. The last Macs I kept set up in my office were an iMac G3 - all in one and G3 tower. Both running OS 10.?

About a week ago I sold an Apple Laserwriter IIg mother board to a customer who just upgraded his Mac OS to OS 10.6 -- Snow Leopard. Apple in their inifinate wisdom deleted the ability to use a lot of older hardware i.e. printers, scanners, and ???

I am refunding the person for the board. Ridiculous. A new operating system disables your printer.

Another thing I NEVER liked about Macs was the price. Typically twice what you could buy a PC for. Long ago I purchased CP/M (pre-IBM PC) computer because I felt the Equivalent Apple was overpriced.

And after you buy all that anti-stuff software
Pay for the fixes at the local tech shop
And purchase new licenses every year for the anit-stuff software
Oh I forgot the extended warranties you must pay for (on some)

You could have saved money and just bought a mac.... I have only purchased 1 warranty for a mac in all these years and that was years ago. I have never purchased a warranty since because I do not need one. Could not tell you the last time I called apple support because it has really been that long ago..

I swapped over to Mac about 5 years ago with a secondhand laptop from ebay. I was sick of having to reformat the hard drive of my PC and reinstall everything due to viruses etc. I've never had any sorts of problems like that with my Mac. I have moved from a Powerbook to an iMac.

And if I ever have to run Windows software (which I do with one of my niche research tools), I just fire up Parallels, although I do feel 'dirty' for using Windows on a Mac ;-)

I used to use Windows, but got a laptop with Vista and that turned me off Windows.

I now primarily use Ubuntu - it's quick, efficient and free

Having said that, I still dual boot this machine with Windows, and recently upgraded (fresh install) to Windows 7. It's pretty good, to be fair.

Although for paid software, I think that Vista really was a farce/joke, hence why I'm still primarily using Ubuntu. Am now hesitant to support Windows too much. I upgraded to Windows 7 solely because I have some software that only runs on Windows (and WINE doesn't do justice to these programs), hence I wanted a pretty decent Windows OS running on this dual boot. Wasn't going to stick with Vista when Windows 7 can be got for £30 here

I'll give Mac a go one day too. It's always weird when making that first move away from Windows, but it's soo much better in the medium and long term ^^

Well the main reasons I like a PC is the price and availability of software.

The other reason is I love the suspense and expectation that each new beta operating system they put out will be an improvement over the old one. I just want to prove to my spouse before I die that I'm right. I think I may be right I figure I'm this vested since DOS and I have another good 30 years left in me.
