Default Questions re: Amazon affiliates

Hi guys,

I'm trying to switch gears and do some small Amazon-affiliate sites.

I wanted to set up my Amazon affiliate account, but they're asking for the website url and info about how I'm going to market...

If the site's not up yet... can I still get an account? Should I buy a domain first... then tell them it's in-progress ?

(Alternatively, I have a nice little content site up. It has very low traffic and I haven't done much with it, and don't plan to do anything with it at the moment... but could/should I use that to show Amazon a website?)

And - is your affiliate account tied to that domain? My understanding was you could use one account, but multiple niche websites, to link to Amazon?

Last question... how long before you stop feeling like a total noob?

Thanks!

For amazon, I just listed some website I had spent like 1 hour putting together. Still got approved quickly with that. I just said that I would market through something search engines, or something generic.

One amazon account can be tied to as many domains/sites as you want.

Amazon commissions can be quite low, if you have low traffic volume you may not sell much. This works better on already established sites with steady traffic. Otherwise it may just be a distraction for your prospects if you want them to take other action like to click on your more profitable links.

Just one tip: If asked how you will promote, don't say incentivised(spelling optional.) They hate that.

Cool, thanks guys!

re: the profits being low... yeah, I realize that. This is part of a course I'm trying, and I think it's meant to be a first step/getting started before hopefully moving on to bigger and better things

I haven't had much success with the other things I've tried, so I figure, if this is a baby step to getting somewhere better - I'm there.

Thanks!

To set up your Amazon affiliate account without a website, open an account at hubpages.com they have Amazon affiliates in its money making scheme. After that you can use your new Amazon account in any website you want

Thanks! Just wanted to let you guys know, I did use my little niche site - and yup - just got word back that I was approved! So, now back to researching and building some new sites and generally trying to learn what I'm doing Fun!

Thanks for the help!

And thanks for the note Colin about not saying you're using incentives (like how I avoided the hard-to-spell verb form, eh?) I had to choose from a drop down, and just picked niche/content, which I think is fairly accurate.

Thanks!
