Affiliate Landing Page And Lead Capture?

I was just wondering after seeing the thread on bypassing the publisher sales page on clickbank so it goes right to the order page if there would be anything wrong with using the sales page as it is, on your own domain and server, (using the source code or whatever to recreate it) and then having the sales link buttons going directly to the clickbank sales cart (so that you could add in your own autoresponder code to the page to still collect the leads.)

I don't think there would be a problem with this as you can direct link to the sales pages with domain redirects, but by doing it that way you lose the chance of capturing the lead. Of course, you would (or should) need to host the images etc on your own server instead of hotlinking to the sales page as well.

What do you think? Would this be allowable? Because this way you are still utilizing a page known to convert, you are in control of the site and you are capturing the leads, plus skipping sending them to a repeated page (the publishers.)

Any thoughts?

    That would be illegal; copyright infringement, I think. And if it were my site, I'd be mighty PO'd, I think. Even if they don't explicitly have the copyright statement on the site, it's their content, and you would have to get their permission to copy it and use it on yours.

    I'm not a lawyer, though...

      You definitely need permission to do this. If you contact the product vendor they may make a domain for you. The big problem with copying someone's page is it will be a duplicate so it could harm both of you. I don't think many vendors would be happy about it at all. You would also be breaching copyright unless you get permission.

    Doing that in most cases would really upset the owners of the original site. Basically, you are stealing their website and putting it on your domain. It's a big no no, get permission in writing if you can, otherwise stay away from that strategy.

      Hey I say anyone can copy my sites as long as it brings ME sales

      I don't know why so many would have a problem with it unless they were "Married" to their product. As for duplicate content... Please, that is such BS. Duplicate content was created to sell article spinners a lot easier.

        I agree with mike 100% on both counts...

        at the end of the day, it's about SALES. As long as the affiliate didn't screw the site up to the point it discredits the product, then I just don't see why so many people are so sensitive to this. You want them to promote your product, but don't want them to use your sales material? It just sounds petty and 'small time' to me.

        Regarding dup content: dup content only hits you when it's duplicated on the same domain.. then google simply index's one and bumps the dup's into the supplemental results.

    Hi Sylvia,

    What you want to do is called a frame redirect.

    You have your own domain but it shows the merchants website inside a frame on your site.

    Looks like you are on your own site shows your domain but is displaying the content from the merchant's site.

    If you do it with the frame redirect you are not actually putting their stuff on your site but has same effect as if you did.

    Lots of affiliate marketers do this.

    Thanks everyone. I never considered the dup content factor or anything like that. Makes sense now that it would be a no-no.

    no I wasn't talking a frame redirect, because I was trying to see a way to add an autoresponder to the site so you don't lose the leads factors.

    It is all up to the content owner. If the sales page has time sensitive material or pricing, changing it is up to them. At that point, your website has misinformation. Most publishers won't like that. Also, they want to be the single point of authority. Some people would not care at all. You have to ask.
