To my surprise I have noticed Squidoo removing some of my lenses and chopping off text in some. Is there some sort of conspiracy going on against marketers that I'm not aware of?

It's the thing now with these popular services. My hubpages account at least tells me what's a duplicate but they don't remove it , they just mention that duplicate content is not likely to be positioned in search results. The other thing is affiliate links - if these are to obvious then it's treated as spam, content of no value. They try to clean up the internet. It's never going to happen. Make sure you're up to date with submission guidelines from any service you use.Try to look beyond the most popular ones, there' loads out there. |

It's quite simple.. Follow the T.O.S of a site, or look elsewhere for your content publishing requirements... it's really not that difficult to understand. Obviously, Squidoo felt that you were in violation of their terms of service, and they acted on it. Good for them! Protection of their business model is a necessity in the climate we/they work in. Peace Jay p.s. You could always buy a domain and submit your content there instead.. that way, nobody can even think about declining/editing your content |

They don't seem to care about affiliate links. What triggers their spam alert is certain words like clickbank, acai, resveratrol etc It's not manually checked until the auto checker has first identified you. When it's manually checked your screwed, as they will lock your lens if they confirm you have used one of these words in your page. |

I thought it was a given, everyone is against marketers. No wants to be sold to, but everyone likes to buy. |

| Not saying they are but let's face facts, squidoo said they was and they do not like spammers. Has nothing to do with marketers. Why on this green earth don't people use sites what they was meant to be used for instead of following some stupid marketing ebook from a self proclaimed wannabe marketer. This I will never understand. Squidoo, hubpages, twitter, facebook, and ect are NOT your marketing platforms. They are social media websites and that means you join, your provide useful information without expecting anything in return, you make friends (real friends, not fake auto follow ones), you be involved in the communities and you help someone that needs help. This does not mean: I helped someone as I gave them all this info about how to save energy and then I slapped them with my marketing links. Sorry you do not pass go and do not collect $200 this way. Provide helpful information "WITHOUT WANTING COMPENSATION" there goes your key to unlock your future right there in 3 simple little words. James |

Squidoo is owned and run by one of the most respected, jedi knight marketers on the planet - Seth Godin. Hardly "against marketers". His opinions about marketing in general are very well known - he's only written about 10 New York Times Best Sellers on the topic, and had a string of successes that most on this forum dream about. If you're getting the boot from Squidoo, you might want to consider what you're doing and how you're doing it. |

You could see the marketing "progression" of Squidoo on this forum over the past couple years. First, Squidoo lens were noticed to be ranked highly and people were creating useful lens and getting great results. Gradually, "how to create a good Squidoo lens" morphed into "how to USE Squidoo to market" and many "marketers" started thinking of Squidoo as their own website rather than as an arm of the marketing effort for their own sites. "Build a lens" advice was replaced with "build 20 lens" - no one should be surprised at the cleanup going on. It's part of the cycle. kay |
