Best way for earning passive income

Hi everyone,

I came across about the definition passive income. Most of the time we hear you can make passive income if you join to an mlm business opportunity. But what is, if we don't want to join to any mlm business opportunity? Is it possible to earn passive income with another online way? What are the possibilities? I love to hear your opinions.

You could start a SaaS, but even then if you stop improving on your product you might lose all of your customers. In general though, I believe you need to continue to ship and launch new products, new versions, etc to continually make money. There's nothing passive about that, but at least you get to work on your own terms and your income is up to you.

It is possible but usually you will either have to buy something that is already passive or you have to spend the time and build something that can become passive. Basically you either have to put in the time and skill or put in the money, sometimes you need both.

Passive ? in mlm ? Im guessing those that get to the top of that cherry tree are hussling thier backside off, or started at the top, are they saying you can join a mlm and sit back and rake in the dough ray me ? I very much doubt that.

and probably the same for anything else, most things will take time, money, and or energy to produce a so called passive income. So what is your definition of passive income ?

Here are a few ways to earn passive income:

    1. Government or employer pension
    2. Real estate investments
    3. Book royalties
    4. Insurance premiums
    5. Your own information products
    6. Your own website
    7. Storage units

All of these methods require some work, but do provide passive income.

My "passive" streams are selling design templates, guides, courses, and YouTube ads. Amazon's affiliate program makes me a few bucks every month but it's chump change and wasn't worth the trouble in hindsight.

Whether or not that's passive depends on your definition of passive. I like to call it recurring income, because the work I put into developing those products and setting up systems that sell them was anything but passive.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[11482181].message }}
  • To earn passive income online, you need to have affiliate program or business opportunity that provides recurring income or multi-tiered commissions. Having multiple sources of recurring income will also help you grow your wealth consistently and eventually leading to financial freedom.

I think that passive income comes fron something you create once, and then you have the opportunity to sell it indefinitely. That can include courses, books, articles, video and whatever else source of information.

MLM isn't passive income unless you have a ton of people under you that do the work for you. It's too much dependable on others. People change, leave the market, become unemployed... there are too many variables.

I think the most easiest and simples way to generate income passively is by buying real estate and rent it. Of course you need to have big capital in order to buy some property like appartment.

Another way is just have any online business, affiliate marketing, amazon fba or whatever, but to make it passive you need to hire people who would do all the work for you.

I agree! I own rental property and my real estate makes great passive income. Many people don't realize you can buy a home and rent it out for more than what the mortgage is on it. Even if you just buy a single family home and cash flow an extra $500 a month, that money adds up over time, especially once you start getting several of them.

Passive income is never instant despite all the offers you see online promising it. If you do it right, you put in the hard work at the start and reap the benefits in the long term.

It has to be based on recurring fees. That either comes down to a service or tool that requires a monthly fee or a membership site that requires a monthly fee.

Once the work has been done in setting up a funnel to drive people to the passive income offer, then it's down to recruiting people to it.

People will always leave, for a variety of reasons. So after you get your recurring income to a level you're happy with, you need to recruit at least as many new people as leave each month to stop your earnings from dropping.

MLMs are favored in this model because you can earn from multiple levels below you. But they do have a pyramid structure. Regardless of what offer you're promoting, it must be a quality one to keep people paying for it in the long term.

If you can create your own training program, and constantly update it, then people will be willing to pay an ongoing membership fee. Same with SaaS.

Alternatively, if you can find a good example that has an affiliate program, you can piggyback on someone else's work for a commission.

Best way to earn passive income is by promoting tools instead of promoting A single product

People pay for tools every single month, If someone build his business in a certain tool it becomes hard for him to move his business to another tool

Let's say you promoting a tool that Helps people build sales funnels, This tool is for 50$, you got commission 50%, That's 25$
If you can bring 100 people to this tool, That's 2500$ recurring income for you every single month

Most people trying to make fast money by promoting a single product, But tool very profitable if you know how to promote it.

    Regards

There really is no such thing as a passive income. As for MLM being passive, the only people that believe that are those that are at the bottom still looking to become rich doing nothing.

Even if you have the capital to hire other people or services to do everything for you, you still have to manage it all. And if you hire a manager, you have to manage the manager.

No such thing as passive income. It's a dream sold by slimy IMers and MLMers.

That's not a passive income. You have to think, write, research, understand metrics, research, operate the auto responded, advertise, and many more things etc, etc, etc.

      Passive means you do nothing.

Passive income means you do nothing and money rolls in.

No such thing unless uncle bob left you billions. Even then, being rich still requires some work.

"Passive income" is a term that was created to sell ebooks, courses and webinars to people who actually believe that, somewhere in the world, there is a way to make a passive income. So they spend their life searching for it in $7 hotsheets, $67 ebooks, $367 courses, $1067 seminars. and $6,667 coaching programs. But they never find it. And the people selling the goods to them are working for it.

      No passive income.

The simple truth is that that passive income doesn't really exist in Internet marketing.

I'm older than most here and true Passive income (per IRS) is earnings derived from a rental property, limited partnership or other enterprise in which a person is not actively involved.

It has become a catchphrase that markets like to use to promote the idea of doing some upfront work and then reaping gains from it that requires little to no further work. Which I think is a bunch of BS in most instances.

If it was that easy, everyone would be doing/killing it.

well let me tell you that's when it gets most difficult!.

the ultimate key to starting and maintaining a business understanding your users and once their demands change you change your business accordingly as well to not lose them.
a company should grow along side their customers and in reality only those businesses that adapt to change are the most successful ones.

As an investor you invest some money into a project and get a percentage of the profits (investments). It is what we can really consider as passive incomes.

Maybe create a course or eBook and put it on ClickBank or JV Zoo?

Or, have a website that someone else runs for you and you collect the income ( I do that).

Or, create a book you sell on Amazon Kindle.

Those all work. I have a great passive income with MLM, because my business is mostly automated, but that is not the norm.

I also like recurring affiliate programs, assuming they have a high retention rate.

My dream would be simply to own a tollbooth on a high traffic bridge, have someone else collect everything and just get a 50% cut.

    How about you?

I think the only thing better than passive income is this:

How can you make the most income possible in the shortest amount of time?

For example, if you could work one day a week and earn $300 to $1,000, and you kept your living expenses dirt cheap or lived overseas, you could own your life 6 out of every 7 days a week.

    Not bad!

"Passive" income stuff you do online takes too much time these days. The easy money has been made. I put huge effort into making a mailing list (like everyone says you should do) but when I did a deep dive into the stats I realised I only had 25 good subscribers (out of 400).

Now my best truly passive income comes from high yielding investments. I do very little trading so all I really have to do is log in once a month and rebalance my portfolio a bit.

Also I have a rental property that's fairly passive income. I have a property manager and they take care of the day to day hassles. They only bother me when a big decision has to be made (that usually involves money lol).

I still do a lot of online stuff, but I treat it as a way to have fun rather than make some serious cash these days.

  • The term "Passive Income" is a very loose term used as more of a catch phrase. It really means time compounding. When you work a 9-5 job making $50K a year salary working 40+ hours a week, you cannot make more than $50K a year and you have to at least work 40 hours a week.

Time compounding is when you start developing a system to create money. The idea is to create a system that will produce more income and will require less of your time. However, you will never be completely free of work. So instead of working 40+ hours a week and making $50K, maybe you only put in 10 hours a week to tweak the business and still make the same $50K.

Some of the easiest ways to make money online are self-publishing and affiliate marketing. Self-publishing does have a cap, doesn't require you to go back and fix the work you have already done and you can scale up very quickly
    .
Affiliate marketing can really scale up, but it takes a little more time. However, you will have to maintain the affiliate offers do to the change in trends, social media and other platforms.

    Sounds easy but it isn't

Spend time doing research on what users buy
Get you blog up and running
Create fantastic content (should be able to influence the users to buy the product you are promoting)
Get the content ranked on Google Local search results

If you can crack this, duplicate it. That should be the road to passive income

There's a lot of different ideas. Many of them can earn income but it's like you said, which are actually passive right? So I did come across this one called Coinanc , it's a passive income system. Maybe try that out, it's pretty good. But ya I think the good one's are rare as if there were a lot of good obvious passive income system's then everyone would know about them and be doing them right? So those that actually work and work well are few and far between.

Passive income is simply making money over and over from a single effort.

An example would be email marketing via an autoresponder. You set up your autoresponder with follow up emails promoting products and you simply build your email list and let your autoresponder messages promote offers for you. This allows you to make a passive income.

Find a niche you are passionate about, Google "affiliate programs + your niche" and you will find a ton of stuff to promote. Now it won't be easy. Just grabbing somebody's affiliate link and posting on your Facebook Page will NOT work.

There are a ton of great affiliate programs out there to earn a "passive income". The best way to start is to just get your feet wet in something. Learn from other people who are successful and doing what you see yourself doing.

You could offer a service and price it high. Or you can start your own recurring income program, or join an affiliate program that already exists like that. There are alot of ways to make money online.

The bottom line is that with any business opportunity, the marketing is the only thing that matters. And if the profit/loss economics of the business isn't in your favor in a HUGE way... then it's time to exist the niche and enter another niche where the marketing and math is in your favor.

Plus... with whatever you're selling... you have to find a way to incorporate *automation* into the business.

What do you think about amazon fba as a passive income stream?
Sure, in the beginning, you would need to put a lot of work and effort, also budget is needed,
but after/if you rank the product, the sales come automatically without you lifting a finger.

Amazon would ship and send you the check. I think amazon fba is one of the best passive income stream, sure it's not 100% as you still need to import more products to amazon warehouse, but if you just happy with one product, it will make consistent sales as long as you don't ran out of items in warehouse.

I'm a big fan of Jesse and Kong's Jumpcut Academy system of creating digital knowledge based products and setting them up on autopilot so you never have to touch them again while they earn income.

What are you better at doing than a specific group of people? You don't need to be and expert. You just need to be better than some or most. Create videos, worksheets etc. about your skill....by the way, everyone has something they can teach that others would be willing to pay for.

Once the content is created, set up an email sales funnel beginning with an opt-in page for some free VALUABLE content.

Tweak and optimize. Once it's set up, you don't need to touch it again and it will continually earn income for the efforts you put in one time.

There is a little more to it than this, but this is the general concept of creating your own digital knowledge based products.

Jesse and Kong from Jumpcut are always putting out quality free content before asking to join their quality programs. I'd recommend checking them out if you're interested in creating that kind of passive income.

What I learned from this thread - Most people who posted don't even understand the difference between "passive income" and "Make money online."

I know a family in Wyoming that has an oil well on their property. Over 100 years ago GreatGrandpa worked his tail off establishing the well. Ever since then the family has earned a passive income from it.

When it comes to the Internet you can not have this kind of passive income because it is too dynamic and volatile. How many people are operating with the same tools and methods as ten years ago? I'm certainly not.

It really works well as a marketing ploy. Ahhh...passive income!! See you at the beach!

I'm guessing by passive you mean systems of income that you can build upfront and then bank off residuals.

To answer your question the best methods that would immediately come to mind are:

    - Creating a digital information product or membership site

    - Creating a SaaS with a monthly subscription and then outsourcing a developer to
    keep it routinely updated

    - Creating a dropshipping subscription store and then having a VA fulfil orders on
    your behalf

    - Creating a Digital Agency and outsourcing the Lead Gen, Fulfilment and Customer
    Relations

    - Not an online method, but opening a vending machine business and hiring
someone to keep the machine filled.

    - You wouldn't earn much with this method, but if you have a decent domain that is
already getting some traffic, parking and then eventually selling that domain would
    be another way.

    - Becoming an online real estate broker (or joint venturing with a real estate agent
and charging them a commission for helping them sell their properties)

    - If you have musical talent you could create music, sound effects, sound packs,
DAW addons, etc and sell those either for a flat fee or on a membership site.

    - If you have a big email list you could literally just promote affiliate / cpa offers to
them and for those that buy or complete the offer you could get paid off that
    without doing much "Work".

There are probably a few other ways as well, but I hope this helps jog a few ideas for you.

Passive income is earnings derived from a rental property, limited partnership or other enterprise in which a person is not actively involved.

See how 'hard work' and ' not actively involved' clash?

Would you agree with me that there has to be a period of initial active involvement which at times can be considered difficult work in order to get to the point of non-active involvement where you're still getting paid?

In my opinion, which could be wrong, maybe certain types of income wouldn't fall word for word under the investopedia definition, but I'd argue that there are other types of income that count as passive after the initial active involvement period, even if they don't fall under that exact verbiage. I'm curious about your thoughts on that though.

Markets/Stocks is a CASINO, Learn how to play a BlackJack it's about the

with policy over few million.. That's a power of compounding, just have to use
your policy same as your BANK Account... Yeah, you think you Have Checking Bank Account/Saving.. All that crap, in reality, you are UNSECURED creditor to the bank... See what I mean? You think you have a deposit, but BANK thinks otherwise, Bank thread it like their own money, your deposit becomes their asset and unsecured liability... So if I just knew all that I know now, 30 years ago... Research this subject... With good insurance companies like NY LIFE and such.. Use your policy like Bank account and in 25 years you can retire millionaire.. If you are still young.. Just research it.. I'm NOT insurance Agent.. Just saying...

If you invest in dividend producing etf's or index funds it's more diversified and less complicated than trying to choose individual stocks. This is a less risky way to get a good yield without having to learn how to choose individual stocks, and the volatility is low. For beginners, I would recommend doing some research and finding a dividend producing ETF with a low expense ratio (fee).

I invest in SPYD, the S&P 500 High Dividend ETF. It holds stocks that produce good dividends and constantly re-balances to keep the highest paying ones in the fund. I hold the fund inside of a Roth IRA and just let the dividends re-invest.

There are many many other strategies and income producing assets that you can find though. Business Development Companies, Master Limited Partnerships, and Real Estate Investment Trusts that produce much higher yields, but you have to do a lot of research and learn a lot to pick the best ones. Plus, each one of those things changes your tax liability.

I'm definitely not an investing expert though, so if anybody sees any mistakes that I've made or has better advice for a beginner, please feel feel to correct me. Thanks.

    Hi Martin,

The way I see it, passive income does not come from mlm or non-mlm business opportunity.

But rather WHAT you know and WHETHER you can provide value to others.

When you go for job interviews, you are marketing your credentials and skills to your employers - be it direct boss, supervisor or designated HR executive in the hope they will hire and pay you month after month.

Likewise when you do on-or-offline business, you are marketing your products and services to your prospects in the hope they will buy from you consistently and even refer their friends to you.

Take for example health products which is a billion dollar industry. People buy them because they want to look and feel great in front of their families and friends.

Same for wealth products which people invested in the hope of getting rich and being free financially without depending on bosses and governments.

So that brings me to 2 questions if you don't mind me asking:

    1. What skills do you have to offer and -

    2. Who is your target audience?

Besides just wanting to make money online?

    Hey Martin.

Passive income means you do work once and then earn monthly. well if you join mlm for you to earn monthly the downline has to stay and for the downline to stay you pretty much have to help them achieve their downlines so its not quiet sweet way to make it passive.

Now actually its very easy to make passive income doing affiliate marketing than doing MLM. Lets say you promote Business Solutions like page builders, hosting services, autoresponder services, with this you do the effort once and once the person uses the service they will forever use it till they change to a better solution. You dont have to keep pestering them to continue paying they will willingly do it because that is what they needed, So this way you get passive income.

Now the really successfull ones put this whole system into one and make some great cash promoting as a business solutions,

For example they create a system where a complete new comer who wants to start a business will join and will be told, first thing you need domain, then you need hosting, then you need a website building program, then you need an autoresponder, this way for all these services they join there are monthly passive commissions.

Hey Martin I hope you have understood what I am trying to mean here.

    Cheers

    Passive income?

"Starving Crowd" is the only form of a passive income that I am aware of and it only entails that we source a crowd of people that are hungry for a product, service or solution and sell it to them.

You can learn more about the Starving Crowd if you Google Gary C. Halbert. There are tons of links that explain how to do online research to find starving crowds.

The trick is to put aside the time to find the Starving Crowd and figure out a way to make money. Then do it.

Most solo-marketers already do it and that is all they do. They have their finger on the pulse of what sells, what is trending and some of the best actually set the trends!

    Hey!

The best way to make passive income is - AFFILIATE MARKETING + EMAIL MARKETING.

Step 1: Choose a niche you are passionate about and there are at least 1M+ people interested in this niche (guitars, relationships, cats, dogs, etc)

Step 2: Create a simple blog on Wordpress using FREE themes or just create a simple one-page website (SQUEEZE PAGE) where you give people something for FREE (E-Book for example in your niche)...this way you will collect people email addresses...(this is key for this strategy)

Step 3: Once you created the one-page website (squeeze page) with 'freebie' (e-book) or blog with some content you can create automated email series using EMAIL MARKETING software (Market Hero, Get Response, Aweber or other) that will deliver the content to people...

Use this pattern: VALUE, VALUE, SELL...

You want to give VALUE, build trust at the beginning & eventually sell something...

Step 4: Drive traffic to the blog or to the one-page website (squeeze page)!

People will enter their email addresses and the email marketing software will send automated emails to people who give their emails...pretty much automated $ if done correctly!

    What to sell?

Simple. Sell other people products or create your own digital products or physical products using dropshipping or Print On Demand business model where you don't need to hold inventory!

    Hope this helped you!

build your list, help your list, offer them stuff.

im doing 300 leads, or generating 300 - 330 fresh leads a day. Not solo ads either.

Some days, its almost HARD for me NOT to make sales. LOL.

Once you are doing 100 leads a day, you get like 1 sale per day, but I know guys with high quality lead doing like 14 sales a day on $97 products. Work out those numbers LOL.

so its about LEADS, LEADS, and then help those leads.

Build an authority blog , with top quality content (lets say around 100 articles) then start promoting it , when you start getting a good traction organically i am quite sure you can enroll in top tier ad networks where you will get $8 - $30 per RPM

Then you just need to outsource some minor maintenance (2-3 articles per month) and that´s it.

I've been selling information products for over 15 years; in my opinion its the best form of passive income. My strategy takes time and effort; but my products yield results for YEARS.

Currently, I have 4 sites in different niches that have been generating annual profits. My approach/strategy is to first build out the product, then build out the website and build rich video content around it. Then grab traffic, both organic and paid and tweak prices/sales strategies until I am making a positive return from each site. Sometimes I get it right away, sometimes it takes a few months of collecting data from traffic (at a loss) in order to get the strategy right and turn a profit. Other times, I have to abandon the site. Out of my 4 successful sites, I have had 2 that I could never turn profitable and had to shut down. Remember, its a business, so if you cant figure it out in a reasonable time, you have to move on.

In terms of timeline, it varies. I have launched a site in under two months (single info product), whereas another took over a year (multiple info products). I have a full -time job so I work on my websites after work/on the weekends. It takes effort, but once my sites are running and turn a profit, they go on autopilot. I spend less than 15 minutes each day answering emails/customer service. Once in a while I do maintenance work on a weekend; but not much. My longest running site has been up for over 10 years, and my most recent for about a year. Each site varies in income, but combined I have done about $20K per year in sales. Although I cant quit my job with this, it is great supplemental income that helps our family.

My advice - learn, put in the time and build out a product/site that can LAST, and you'll be able to produce multiple long-term income streams. I dont want to publicly post my websites. Good luck!

How I currently earn passive income:

1.) Build a following on YouTube
2.) Put links in the description of my videos that lead to my website which is where I sell my courses

Some may argue that there's no such thing as "passive income", but I haven't directly worked on this since June 9th because I've been busy with other things, but I've still continuously been making sales every day. So in my book it is passive income

I'd argue that that's a pretty passive income. You put in all the work initially, and now you sit back and the money rolls in.

In general, when people talk about passive income what they're thinking of is affiliate marketing - doing work once and then get paid for years to come without doing any more work.

Looking at the affiliate marketing model (though it applies to other "passive income" models like running your own membership site), that's not how it works in practice.

You may do the work once, say in setting up a sales funnel, but you've got to work to continuously drive traffic to your offer.

If you want to use free traffic, you have to put more of your own time into driving that traffic. If you want to drive paid traffic, well that costs you money.

Imagine you set up a 1-page website that sells a product - your own or a product you're an affiliate for.

You're also good at SEO, so you get that page to rank highly in the search engines.

You can now get a lot of organic traffic coming in from those search engines, resulting in a lot of sales.

Ok, so what happens after this, after you leave that page to look after itself. You've done the work in building it and now you're off to your next project.

That page could sit high in the search engines for months or even years and still bring in sales.

But maybe you've got competition from other marketers who eventually unseat your site from its top position and it eventually drops in ranking. And, as it drops, so do your sales.

Another possible problem is whether what your promoting is an evergreen product or something that has a defined lifetime. It falls out of favor or is replaced by a better product from another merchant.

On the other hand, maybe the merchant who created the product you're promoting goes out of business, closes the business, stops producing the product, sells it to someone else or changes affiliate network.

All of these scenarios (and others) will impact your Passive Income.

Passive income is not the same as recurring income though they may seem the same at first glance.

Recurring income comes in from subscription-based products or services where people pay monthly or every year to renew their subscription.

Recurring income can be one stream in a passive income.

But with recurring income, people eventually cancel their subscriptions for one reason or another. And with every customer who doesn't renew, your recurring income gets smaller.

So you have to keep recruiting new customers, at least as many as you're losing each month.

A passive income (even one with a recurring income component) needs constant work to keep bringing in new leads and customers. However, a lot of that can be automated so that you have more free time than someone working a 9-5 job.

Generating a passive income also becomes easier if you start building your own email list and doing email marketing. There are two advantages to this approach:

    1. You have a captive audience you can market to again and again (but don't abuse them by only sending them sales pitches). They're already a warm audience and if you've built trust with them, it will be far easier to sell additional products to them than to cold leads who don't know you.

    2. You're building a business asset that you fully own and control. You can't say that about any other online business. Anything - whether it's a product or service - that's built on a website, is prone to the whims and algorithm changes of the search engines (especially Google) or the social media platforms. They can kill your business overnight. And if it happens, they don't care. Owning an email list means you can still have a working business even if the worst happens elsewhere.

A passive income is possible but it's not free income. You still have to work for it. But the amount of income you can (not necessarily will) make depends on your dedication to your online business. It's something you build over time - it's not a push-button solution for getting rich quick. But if you're successful, it gives you the time freedom and the money to live life on your terms.

I have been making money online off and on for about 10 years and have always found that I need to do something to get that money...generate leads, get traffic to my offers, etc. It all requires effort (work of some kind) on my part or else it doesn't happen. I think the closest you can come to a earning passive income is residual income from the front-end product.

  • I have always found that the best way to gain passive income is by welding yourself to a program that provides real quality and produces results for passive income. A program that works and has proven results. Passive income can be defined in so many opportunities but until you see the money come rolling in, it is all pipe dreams.

Managing a team is about as far from passive income as you can get.

Not if you manage the manager to manage other managers that manage your team.

Grow a mailing-list and send great offers, such as high-converting webinars.

That should give you several dollars per list-member per month, passive income. The time needed to send the offers is minimal . . . just re-write email swipes and schedule them to post to your list.

Simple, and can be VERY profitable !

There are two kinds of income:

1.) Active Income (income you must actively "work" for)

2.) Passive Income (income that works for you after you put in work - my favorite)

Passive income is the way to go! Who doesn't want to set up a system and it works for you while you are shopping, sleeping, a business that is hands-free from you have to maintain it all the time and yes it is possible to achieve!

However, passive income is not something that is easily achieved. Having the right systems in place and building authority in your niche is what matters, and what value you provide to the people matters. I know what it takes to make money while you sleep, and while I'm out and about with my day. There is nothing like it. The key is to get you a system that works for you after you set it up. If you have a good system that follows up with your prospects, you have credibility, you can recommend products that you didn't even have to create that have deep sales funnels. Many of these sales funnels have recurring income (meaning if you sell it once it pays over and over again) with high ticket backends (such as coaching clients). Find a niche you are passionate about, build credibility by offering valuable content and from there promote products with deep sales funnels and always be focusing on building an email list that way you can email your prospects given time. Also, remember to stay focused and never give up!

The most effective way to earn passive income is to invest in real estate. Which involves the buying of properties at a price and reselling or leasing it at a price greater than the actual cost price.

Membership Site. If you have something to offer like weight loss programs, body building techniques, monthly marketing materials, etc. you can create a membership site. The law of mathematics suggests that if you have at least 100 members paying $20 a month in membership gives you $2000 income every month!
