I Feel Like A Dummy Asking This...

I'm setting up my Hostgator account. I don't know if I should select Shared Hosting, Reseller Hosting, or Dedicated Hosting.

To give you an idea, I am quitting my J.O.B. in two weeks to go full-time in IM. I plan on buying domains all the time through GoDaddy.com and hosting the domains with Hostgator.

Some of the domains will be set up for simple landing pages. Some domains will have blogs with my articles. I am planning to set up an authority site in one of my niches where I am an expert. Lastly, I will purchase domains and set them up for Adsense revenue.

I will design many of the sites with Xsitepro.

I have been using Web 2.0 sites for landing pages until now, but now that I am going full-time I want to own most of my sites.

Dedicated hosting for sure.

Especially if you're going to be running that amount of domains through it.

You def need something that is going to support all that data.

Just my thoughts.

You just need shared hosting. You can pick the plan that allows multiple domains.

its a big jump from shared hosting to a dedicated server. i think u will have to know a few security things to manage it properly.

Shared hosting should work just fine. When you start to push the limits of your plan, upgrade.

If you are planning on launching multiple sites - start with an HG Reseller account.

You will have a webhost manager page (WHM) where you can check all site stats at once, quickly adjust bandwidth when needed and each site will hae its own cpanel.

Before some worries about "same IP" HG seem to assigning different IPs - at least it is to my sites. Never been a problem for me.

You can start with $25 a month - add as many sites as you want (or as space will handle) and can upgrade when you need to.

I would not go for the "multiple sites" hosting that is not a reseller plan as you need to do add-on domain after the first one. Go for reseller - much more efficient and easy to use.

In addition to what Kay said above, having a reseller account also gives individual cpanel access to each site. That is great if you decide to sell some of your sites in the future. That way you can give the new site owner access to the hosting of that site without the others.

I agree a reseller plan is the way to go because it's easier to manage multiple sites when they each have their own control panels.

You probably won't need a dedicated server for quite a while.

Second that >> dedicated hosting..EVENTUALLY. It doesn't make much business sense to pay for something you won't use. There's no way in hell you're going to go from no traffic to the kind of bandwidth dedi hosting offers overnight.

I'd start with reseller hosting until you start building a lot of traffic, then move to dedicated when you need it. You can always upgrade later.
