Download page help plz

Thanks in advance for being helpful

Ok I need some really basic advice, sorry if im in the wrong place! I want to sell an mp3 and then have a download page, also I want to ad an opt in from my Aweber, ill heard that paypal can be funny about opt-ins.

Is it aweber optin form, the download page or paypal.

Can you be more precise?

I have my own aweber optin form in my download page and I'm using Paypal to collect payment. So far no problem at all.

If using Aweber, log into your aweber account, select the tab “web forms”, click on the green button “create web form”. Fill in the "form details" giving your form a relevant name. Select form type, in-line or pop-up will do.

Under thank you page, enter the page you want the subscriber to see once subscribed. You can choose your own url/ OTO page, an upsell, aweber has a default thank you page.

Make sure you set the "start on msg" to the 1st msg you want your subscriber to recieve. You should have already set this up under the "messages" tab. You can ignore the other fields for nowe and cick nxt.

Under "design form", click on the fields and edit as you please. You can use the "Add new field" to add other fields you want. Best to use name and email fields, leave it simple.

Once completed, click on "Get HTML", copy the javascript and add to you download page/salespage. Don't forget to ftp your page once completed.

To create a download page, use whatever editor you are currently using eg kompozer to create your page. You can have a look at other peoples download pages (same as thank you pages - the page you see when subscribed to them) for ideas.

To create download link, create a new folder (named e.g "yourfile"), put your file/product/document in that new folder and ZIP the folder- name of file "yourfile.zip".

Add your download link to your download page. FTP both to your server.

Paypal only objects or rather may object if you force a customer to optin in order to get the product after he has payed for it. But if you optin is on the download page for getting updates etc then that's ok with the paypal.

You can also do this by joining e-junkie and uploading your product to their site, when your customers order it immediately takes them to a download page so you don't have to create one yourself.

It also sends that download link to their email address after they've ordered so it's automatically taken care of for you.

Just create a page called fgtry.html or whatever (make it hard to figure out) and when you are creating your buy now button, in advanced options just put the html page you've created as the return url.

Every so often, change the page name to something else and update the details in paypal.

Instead of copying and pasting the button code, choose email version instead and put that small snippet of code as the hyperlink in your custom BUY NOW button..

TRy using the belcher button as the graphic...it's free if you do a search for it on Google!

On the download page add your opt in form before the download link , and just tell your customers that if they would like to be kept informed about any changes, updates etc, add their name to your list!

DON't FORCE THEM TO SIGN UP TO GET THE DOWNLOAD...

Oh yeah, and add this code to your download page to stop it getting shown in search engines:

<html>
<head>
<title>...</title>
<META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW">
</head>

You could just use one of the $7 scripts around like RAP or something...much more secure!

Hi Simon,

If you're interested in automating the whole process, and making the process more streamlined for your client, you can use DLGuard - it'll do all the hard work for you, and it'll make the process smoother (ie. no opt-in forms to fill out, no download pages or donwload links to create, no Paypal button code to mess around with, for example).

Hi,

I use jvmanager and Delavo.

What happens is that a person fills out the order form stuff, makes a payment and gets automagically directed to the download page. A side benefit of using these platforms is that each package can send information to whatever autoresponder you want it to.

Even if the client backs out of the purchase at the end, you still get the contact info.

You only have to create the package and product info in jvmanager and not the download page since it does that for you, as well as disguises the true link and expire it.

You can also add oto's and whatever else to the process as well as add the client to your affiliate program.

jvmanager turned into fantasos and then delavo but i still mostly use jvmanger and i have seen it for sale for $97 or less at most places.

If also works with multiple payment gateways.
