I have read the pros and cons of getting a .mobi domain name (the cons seem to be winning) but for some reason, I really like the idea. So I registered a wonderful .mobi domain name this morning and am now trying to figure out what to do with it. Or should I say 'how' to do something with it. I checked out mobisitegalore.com - it looks quite promising. However, I'd rather have control of my site rather than building something on a free site, no matter how good it looks. I'd love to use Wordpress, but I can't find any good .mobi wordpress themes. I know the theme has to be pretty basic, and mostly I want to enter text rather than graphics. Can anyone point me in the direction of some good (paid or free) .mobi wordpress themes? |

Thanks Alxstatic: I appreciate the lead. However, the problem with these sites is that they deal with the .mobi market and don't seem to be the right size for a proper .mobi site. I need a wordpress template that will pass this type of test: mobiReady - dotMobi compliance & mobileOK checker Either that or I will just go with mobisitegalore.com It looks like a good site but it there doesn't seem to be much activity there since 2008. Perhaps people just aren't in to designing sites for mobile devices yet. eBay is configured for mobile phones. I'm trying to figure out how they did their site. http://m.ebay.com/ Here's the link on eBay that shows all the features of the mobile website: http://pages.ebay.com/mobile/mobileweb.html If eBay can do this, I want to do it too! |

Hi Val, Glad to see mobile interest picking up. There is a mobile wordpress plugin that is available to mobilize your wordpress blog. As per the ebay listings I have managed to create a few mobile sites utilizing ebay rss feeds. A couple of the sites are listed in my signature if you would like to have a peak. Happy New Year and if I can be of any assistance drop me a line. Cannot send out pm due to the lack of posts at the moment but hopefully will catch up in not time. |

This is the first time I hear about the .mobi domains for the sites with for mobile phone. Because the mobile era is going to go huge, I think this mobi domains are going to go huge to and it's a good think to buy a lot now and then sell them.

If you are planning to develop, I believe there will be great potential. If you are purchasing as a domainer looking for a quick flip for a quick buck now is definitely not the market unless you are in for the long haul.

No, not the market, but remember: if I buy for example 100k mobi domains today, maybe in 5 years they will be 1 million or more in value.

Definitely agree with you on that. That is why I am making sure to hold on to my portfolio as long as possible. As long as my renewal fees are being covered through my conversions, I am content. As of right now everything is keeping steady with no out of pocket for renewals which is always a positive note
