NEWSFLASH: You Do NOT Have To Have A PayPal Account To Purchase WSO's!

I have seen a lot of people mention that they cannot purchase WSO's because they do not have a PayPal account.

Many of you may already know this... But for those of you who DON'T;

PayPal has something called "Guest Checkout" that allows you to purchase something via PayPal without having a PayPal account at all!

You can just pay with a credit card or debit card WITHOUT needing to ever sign up or sign in.

Here is a screen-shot of what the "Guest Checkout" option looks like:



As you can see you can click "Continue" and then pay with a credit card or bank debit card. After payment, you would simply click on "Return to Merchant" to receive your instant download just like anyone else would (Whether they have a PayPal account or not).

How to locate this option:

When you click on the "Order Now" link of a WSO and it takes you to the PayPal purchase page... Look on the bottom left of the page.

There you will find the option to use the Guest Checkout.

I hope this helps at least a few people who would have otherwise missed out on buying a WSO due to not having a PayPal account!

P.S. - This doesn't just go for WSO's (obviously) -- But for ANY product or service that requires you to pay through PayPal.

I am guessing it is a lot of us!

I also suspect that a lot of people are missing out on great products & services due to thinking that they cannot purchase without a PayPal account!

I just use 2checkout. They make it SOOOO easy for me.
You have multiple payment options with 2checkout and their payment processing have become much more user friendly.

You're always going to lose a relatively small number of sales because the potential customer cannot pay online. I'm not sure that even qualifies as a lost sale though to be honest, because they may not have a CC or DC to begin with.

Real world example:

My niece owed us some money, but didn't want to send a check through the mail. We sent her a PayPal invoice. She went to PayPal, and had two options... "Pay With PayPal" and "I Don't Have A PayPal Account."

We literally had to talk her into clicking the second button on the phone, because she kept insisting that she DID have a PayPal account, she just didn't want to pay with it. And she was paying with PayPal, after all, she just wanted to use her regular bank account to do it.

PayPal encourages the use of your PayPal balance to pay through PayPal, because it's cheaper for them. They do this so effectively, a lot of people simply can't break through the suggestion and use another payment method.

I don't have an easy answer for this.

I agree Mike, besides most everyone nowdays has paypal if they have been online any lenght of time at all.

Paypal has been offering Guest Checkout from a long time ago but whenever it comes to buying something with Paypal no one takes the time to find out if they can buy with Paypal without having a paypal account.

Alas, that's true for paypal U.S., but not for paypal Germany (don't know about other countries).

I've been told by their support that they are currently testing this feature with selected German accounts, but it's not sure if it will be introduced and when. And even if they'll introduce it, the answer of their support suggested that it will only work with credit cards, not with bank accounts, and the second one is the method of choice for most Germans.

So this doesn't help everybody...

It is the same in Thailand - we can't pay by credit card without a paypal account either.

After much arguing with Paypal, I finally managed to set up an account - and then went on a WSO shopping spree.

I didn't realize that this feature wasn't available everywhere, however, it may still help a significant amount of people who were not aware of this option before...

I agree, I don't think this a significant problem at all. But it definitely attributes to some lost sales...
