Default iframe vs copyright - help needed

Hi guys,

I'm sure many of your are familiar with the use of iframe (I think it's called that), where you buy a domain name and do a redirection though it to merchant’s site via an affiliate link;

So essentially your new site loads merchant's site via affiliate link under your domain name. As far as I know this method is pretty common and it used by many people (including top marketers) promoting all sorts of products.

I had an unhappy merchant come back to me asking to take my site down since he is convinced it is infringing on copyright laws.

I couldn't find any info online about it so if you can point me in the right direction or have any advice, that would be appreciated.

Thanks
Andrey

I don't think they are called iframes. Iframes are those that you see in Traffic Exchanges.

Is this guy the person whose product you're promoting? Well, then you should probably do what he says. You might have chosen some trademarked domain name as.

If he's not that person, then I don't think it's copyright infrigement. As long as the author doesn't care, why should he? You can't call for someone else's copyright.

Just my $0.02.

Sumit.

If you're promoting his product, you may want to point that out to him. I once thought one of my affiliates was infringing on me as well, before I realized that he was actually promoting my product.

If he still wants you to take it down, then you have no choice, because it is his copyrighted work.

Do what Gary said..

If he is just another e-book owner then he should be stupid to still ask you to take it down.
