Setting up Wordpress

Hey All,

Wordpress is the NOT the most user friendly

(especially compared to Blogger) but does anyone know of any YouTube videos of how to set up a Wordpress blog that IS NOT installed on your own server?

I am having an issue with many of the features of the theme I set up and I can't find where on earth I put a description, this blog roll thing keep showing up but it won't let me add to it or change anything on it. Just weird stuff like that.

On Blogger all you do is hit it and make changes. Description is right there on the admin side etc. Am I missing something?

Obviously I am!

Shoot your specific question and maybe we can help. You can also check the Codex. You can find almost anything related to WP there. Do not forget the forum also.

FYI...

If you plan on using a wordpress.com blog for anything commercial - sooner or later they will delete your blog.

I think wordpress is the most successful platform for blogging.

about the installation? It not quite easy if you install manually. But it is not that hard.

Just read the tutorial how to install wordpress.

No, It's not commercial. Just a basic blog about jobs and job listings etc. My specific question is since I am not installing on my ISP (just setting it all up on Wordpress) where do I go to enter my description (which is what google looks at but does not show up on the site) and how do I alter the Blog Roll? There is just so much stuff and no easy way to use it.

So, if it is not "commercial" it is a hobby blog, I assume.

No making money, no ads, nothing...

Anyway.
1. What is description? Do you refer to the tagline? -> admin > Settings > General
Keep in mind some themes do not display the tagline.
(If you refer to meta tags, you cannot mess with the theme's template files on wp.com)
2. admin > Links... to change the "Blogroll" name admin > Link Categories; to add/edit links: admin > Links > Edit/Add new

	In the first half of the year we are supposed to work for the taxman. I think that's a mistake. Help me to get rid of the taxman ASAP - thanks! (You, too, should make less mistakes!) Blog
