Wow that is quite a list - thanks for sharing!!

In your opinion, do you think it is worthwhile to submit to the more obscure directories? Or do you think it is best to stick with the more mainstream, established ones?

I use most of the ones on this list (even the obscure ones) I use article marketing as a way to get easy backlinks back to my sites. I want my website to achieve high rankings, not just an article I wrote.

I've seen that articlebase gets alot of articles indexed on the front page. I was doing research yesterday and saw many articlebase articles come up on the first page. Sometimes even two of them on the same page.

Sweet, you also have what kind of directory they are, for instance, "general" or "real estate". I use Big Mike's Icansoft Article Bot, but I feel bad about sending niche directories articles that don't fit with them. Now I have a resource to check the directories in the software and filter out the niche ones.

I also have ArticleBot and I feel the same way... it sometimes feels like spamming even though I tried to weed those directories out.

You can submit your own directory there. I guess a lot of these directories were submitted by users anyway.

This might be a stupid question, but how does one submit their article to 1100+ article sites in a timely manner? I have UAW and have plenty of unique versions to submit of each article, but what do you all do if you wanted to utilize hundreds of article sites?

My problem with articlebase is that it loses rankings prtty quick and doesn't respond pretty well to backlinking. Regarding this extensive list, I will use some of them off course.

I've gone through that Directory Critic list. The problem is it is outdated, a lot of these sites are no longer article directories.

I always felt that the main article directories like ezine articles and articlesbase were meant to drive traffic to your site.

The other article directories are just good for building backlinks.

You have no idea how wrong this statement really is .... Anyone that is just trying to use article directories for "backlink purposes" only just has no idea how true article marketing works...

article marketing and seo are two different things James.

For you to indirectly say that people who use article directories for the purpose of backlinking have no idea how article marketing works, is like saying I dont know what I am doing.

Sure, if you want to do Bum Marketing, that's fine. Not many have the talent to write good articles (including me unless its something I already know something about, ie, forex trading), but other niches, like doctor related stuff, then what?

I've always re-written the articles taken from other article directories, once they get approved I just point links to them, creating a huge chain of related articles that link to each other similar to a wiki-pedia structure... works fine for me, but if you;'re just gonna post articles and leave it as that with the odd link in there, one is wasting their time since that article doesn't have any authority and will eventually drop out of the top 1000.

World of a difference between "True Article Marketing" and "Bum Marketing" .. I do not use any bum marketing crap. If you are using article directories for backlinks then you have no idea how true article marketing works.

Big deal you are getting traffic, anybody can do that. Not everybody can do "True Article Marketing" because many are mislead on what it really is. Has nothing to do with SEO, you perfectly can write articles with no SEO at all and make a full living online from those articles.

Articles should be written first and foremost for "READERS" and not for backlinks or SEO. Many will disagree with this like you and that is fine. You are getting traffic and I guess making sales. But fact remains "True Article Marketing" is something that the few have really mastered...

I am sorry but NOT all article directories are for "backlinks" as you stated as a fact above, this is not a fact at all and this kind of crap just confuses newbies...

Ok James, you have your way, I have my way, and others have their way.

If you want to write articles for your readers, that's fine.

I'm not in the business to write articles and spend tons of time working on emotional triggers, or what have you so they click the link in my bio.

My time is too valuable to sit there for about 15-30 minutes or so per article. I want a quick in and out solution and move on to other areas of getting traffic to my sites.

And you are so wrong that anyone can get traffic to their websites, there are a lot of people on this forum that struggle to get 100-200 or more visitors to their websites.
