Use Google Keyword Tool which is free.. Simply type in any keyword.

https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

Remember to check the "use synonyms" option for more suggestions

When specifically doing keyword research online a combination of Google's free tool and Market Samurai can be used quite effectively.

Following the advice from google sniper product I would recommend inserting into the copy many relevant keywords that you'll find under your main keyword in Google keyword too results (sorted by relevance).

These supplemental keywords are called LSI - Latent Semantic Indexing keywords. LSI is a specific algorithm that the search engines use to evaluate site content through related, which is of great help for your site's SEO.

If you stuff your copy with your main keyword only this will look un-natural.

Keep in mind LSI's (or whatever you want to call them) are words related to YOUR topic - that often don't show up in keyword tools.

Example?

Keyword Surf:

The obvious:

surfboard
surf wetsuit
surf deck
etc etc

And those NOT so obvious:

sand
sea
sun
reef
tide

etc etc

Just a idea

I personally Google adword tool and keyword Elite 2.0. To me, keyword elite 2.0 had made it so much easier because you can also see the website competition pages there are for that keyword, along with how many backlinks they have. It is an awesome tool!

Fernando,

You can also find your "not so obvious" in the second (bottom) part of your google keyword results called "Additional keywords to be considered" , these are related to the topic but often don't contain words from your main keyword.

Amy, Keyword Elite seems to be really impressive tool but you can get great and similar results with free Market Samurai.

Its pretty powerful... maybe a little more time consuming, but I think it will help you better understand the process in the long run

I have Market Samurai, Keyword Elite 2, Micro Niche Finder, and a combination of scripts that I wrote myself, and of course WordTracker

I nearly always revert to the Google tool though. Can't beat the speed.

Hi,

I primarily use:

Google's FREE Keyword Search Tool which you can find at:

https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

and Wordtracker. There's a free version and a paid version, but the FREE version is fine for our purposes.

Good Luck!

Many here have said it all. Google free keyword tool is pretty good start; being free and fast. KeywordElite will give you a more advanced analysis even on your competitors.
