Paypal Allows Local Bank Withdrawal For Malaysians :-)

As there are a significant amount of Malaysian in the forum,
Just want to inform you guys that Paypal now allows EVERYONE
to withdraw to their local bank account like Maybank, Affin, and so on

It takes 2-3 biz days for it to appear, and there is no fee if the money being withdrwan is more than RM400.. More details are in your Paypal account, go check the "withdraw" column

Such a great news as all this while, we had to face an uphill battle with them

From not being recognized when I first started.. to now getting allowed to withdrwa, we came a long way :-)

I remember when they finally got this going in Greece about 5 years ago - it resolved all the "Shuffling" money around the world I had to do to actually get it into a Greek bank, LOL.

To fair to PayPal, it's not actually their fault - there are a lot of regulatory issues involved to get local banks to work with them.

I just checked with Paypal and they can now send wire transfer to Australia as well as many other countries of the world. It's something I have been asking them for years!

as due to regulatory issues Paypal not offering services here yet.

When my first name and last name in PayPal are stringed together, it doesn't match my name in the bank account. Although, PayPal allows the first name to be adjusted, I still couldn't get the name parts to be ordered in such a way that it matches.

To get it to match, it looks like I need to request a last name change ( which involves submitting ID proofs...though I have no problem with that except for the hassle).

Did you guys have that problem?

Paypal never perform a service for you free of charge. The fees are incorporated in the exchange rate.

If you compare the exchange rate which Paypal use to convert to your local dollars, you will prefer to have a US dollars cheque mail to you especially when the amount is substantial. You will get better value even after including your bank charges. Paypal exchange rate suck
