Quick question about clickbank

So basically I promoted a link from clickbank, used PPC keyword advertising, made a sale, then I go to the website owned by the company and they say they don't allow PPC advertising?

I know it's not uncommon for vendors to limit how their links are promoted, but I thought the whole point of clickbank was that anyone could just grab a link and promote things. Clickbank doesn't mention this restriction. Can they enforce this, will they find out I used keywords and confiscate the commission? What do I do going forward, should I cancel my ad campaigns and cut my losses?

Also I'm not linking directly to the link obviously that would probably get me banned, I am using a landing page.

Honestly, I'm surprised you got that far. Usually, Google Ads will reject ads sending traffic to Clickbank affiliate URL. Of course, it's been several years since I tried it.

Of course the company can enforce this. Clickbank does not set all rules for all vendors. The individual company sets their own their own rules along with the rules that they have to abide by to become a clickbank vendor.

You simply need the traffic from the PPc company to a landing page and have them click over to the product that you are promoting.

That being said....It would be wise to create a squeeze page detailing the product and have the visitors opt in to a list for more info.

This will allow you to promote similar product to the same traffic for free via your autoresponder messeages or simply email broadcasts.

A lot of vendors don't want their affiliates running PPC campaigns targeting certain keywords, especially keywords related to the name of the company and it's products (branded keywords).

You must abide by the rules of ClickBank AND the Vendors. In this case it's a rule imposed by the vendor and of course it can enforce it.

Unfortunately, you must always check the rules before promoting any product this is of your own responsibility, and if you break the rules you risk to receive the consequences.

It's up to you to cancel this campaign if you will. In the actual circumstances I doubt you'd have much other choices. At least, this is what I would do, because when you break the rule it is very likely that the vendor has also all the rights to keep all commissions owed to you, whether right now, or on any future sale sold by breaking the rule.

    Good luck.

ClickBank Marketing 101.. always do your research on ClickBank and the Affiliate rules before you spend your money promoting ClickBank and the Affiliate Program.

Also, practice your own Due Diligence.

One way to learn more is if the Affiliate Program has a forum.. use it.

The best way is to contact the Affiliate Program Manager and explain what you plan to do and ask if you are in compliance with their rules. Usually, the managers wants all of the affiliate sales it can muster, so they are only to happy to make sure you (and them) make money.

What I always recommend to my clients in this case is: go, make your own simple website and drive traffic there.. nobody can say anything.

And yes its stupid to restrict a PPC or any kind of traffic, doesnt make a sense

You could always cheat like you are suggesting your clients, but if you do and get caught you can lose all your commissions as I mentioned here above.

So I re-read the rules and I'm actually pretty sure I was following them to the t so I should have been fine.

But then I was banned from clickbank so who knows? They still haven't told me why I was banned.

This is absolutely not surprising as it is among the consequences of not following the rules, and no, most of the time, you won't have a second chance.

You may want to try but they have not much to do and time to waste with folks who cannot read and play by the rules, among the millions of available affiliates who WILL, play the game fairly, according to the rule.

Don't worry too much though, we have all at one day or another done some goofs in the like, and many have done several but it's among the best ways to learn a few very useful lessons for the next moves.

      Regards,

    Really?

If that's the case then promote something else in that same niche.

Honestly that does not make any sense to me. If you are getting them sales, why can't you use a pay per click platform?

Something that does make sense is that most programs will NOT allow their affiliates to use keywords like:

The product name, the owner's name, SCAM, and FRAUD in the ad itself.

Well, it make a lot of sense if the vendor wants to use PPC ads themselves to promote their products and do not want to lose sales and commissions, in other words having affiliates to COMPETE THEM on PPC advertising networks.

THAT makes a lot of sense, at least to me so that would be a good reason and a rule I would establish too if I was to spend cash on PPC on top of developing an affiliates network.

      Cheers!

Even though you signed up on Clickbank to promote the affiliate product, you must go to the Vendor's Affiliate JV page to see there policies regarding affilate promotions, and this is very important. Most times the vendor is using PPC too and they do not want any kind of competition with affiliates for the keywords. I suggest you go to there affiliate page and see what the terms are for promoting the product. You should then stop the PPC campaign as quickly as possible and try other Traffic sources that abides by the terms of the Affiliate Page.

Yes you need to stay in compliance when it comes to keyword bidding etc doing PPC.

Best way around this is to create a wrapper (own landing page, bridge page/value series) then promote the product at the back end.
