When it comes to keyword research which is more important? The name of the website or the pages on the site? I sell headphones and I know I won't ever be able to get headphone.com or org, etc but i can get something like bestheadphonestoget.com.....now my pages on my site or should i say the keywords for each page do have good search volume (5k+) and the competition is under 100K. For instance DJ headphones Headphones for Running ETC Am I going correctly by just having the main phrase "headphones" somewhere within my website address and focusing on the individual page title (keywords) to attempt to rank? Thanks for any input |

First you have to decide which keyword will be the "main" keyword, the one you think will convert the best for your product. Put that keyword in the domain name, if possible without hyphens. You can ad words like: the, my etc to get the right domain. The index should also be optimex for that certain keyword as well. For the other pages of your site: name each page as the keyword you're trying to rank for. Hope this heps .Andy. |

Ive gotten the best results when I use the keyword at the beginning of the domain. For example I would choose headphonestoget.com before I chose bestheadphonestoget.com. It would be even better to use all related keywords such as headphonesaudio.com. The domain would be worth more in the end if you ever tried to sell it. |

Having a primary and two secondary keywords for your main page is very important. While exact and phrase domain matches can help, backlinks and LSI keywords will help you the most. You could register CakeToppings.com and get it ranked for "weight loss", but having a relevant domain name is a good idea. |

I think it is vital to have your main kewyword/term at the start of your title tag, and then again in variation within it, and matching those to phrases in your h1's and content.
