Atleast that's what google is wanting me to believe, and I'm not sure why.
I did some keyword research, and discovered about 75 keywords all with 60,000 or more monthly searches. Interestingly enough a keyword that I'm ranked number 1 for gets about 22,000 monthly searches, and as number 1 I get about 20 of them per day. Sound strange . . . 700+ people searching for my keyword daily and only 20 clicking the first link? I went back to the "basics" of when I started working online...back to Seo Book Keyword Suggestion Tool seobook claims my ranked keyword is only getting 10 daily searches on google. So if you're doing keyword research on google, check other sources before you get your hopes up too high! They claim several low competition keywords are getting insane amounts of traffic every month...and they simply aren't. I'm not sure WHY they're doing it, but before you get excited about your hot new keyword and start putting your time and effort into ranking for it, check out other sources to get a better feel for the keyword and niche. Good keyword research can be the difference of a $10 a month site, and a $10 a minute site. |

That's one reason I get so confused about keyword research. I'll check Google Keyword Tool and get a large amount of searches. Turn around and check SEO Book and get a much smaller number for the same keyword. I never know which data is accurate.

I don't know if you are manually searching through google or using software, but if you are using Micro Niche Finder and doing too many queries google will temporarily ban you IP for a short time and all the result will come back as 0 competition while the IP is banned.

You have to change Google's keyword tool from Broad to Exact. That's how you get the exact searches per month.

I'm manually using Google's free keyword tool at... https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
It looks as though neither of them is very accurate, though the seo book tool is much closer. I notice google likes to just throw around big numbers... 165,000 74,000 246,000 49,500 33,100 yet seo book say these same keywords are getting... 12 16 24 9 7 SEO book's are daily searches while google's are monthly but there is still a huge difference there. |

I think what you are not realizing is that the Google search tool gives searches not only from Google but from all of it's network partners and there are a lot of them.
That tool was created for Adwords so is why it includes these partners. |

Yep, heaps of people trip up on the broad/exact search numbers. They are usually miles apart!!

Huge difference between broad and exact match type.
Thanks for pointing that out. |
