I have a product in the fitness niche and I want a few professional 2nd opinions.

Project: 5k - 90 Days
Goal: $100 profit per day by the end of 90 days of promotion/seo/adverts/whatever
Product: Fitness eBook with bonus health eBooks
Sale Amount: $40
IM Budget: $5,000
Timeframe: 3 months (90 days)

Currently the product is selling approximately zero - one per week with almost 1,000 web hits per month.

What would be your approach to ensure success with this project?

First thing - get your conversion up.

At the moment you're converting at about 1 in 250 giving you a visitor value of $0.16 (I think - no calculator to hand!)

Use a significant amount of your budget on hiring a professional to completely revamp your salespage. Perhaps spend $1.5-2k on this.

Then, further increase your visitor value by creating a powerful backend with products ranging from $100+ or a recurring billing product - such as monthly video training.

Then get yourself set up on one of the affiliate networks, such as Clickbank ($50), or set up your own in-house affiliate programme, using something like Rapid Action Profits ($200) <<< well worth it, however.

Pay commissions on both the front-end and back-end products so that affiliates get a good visitor value too.

Then spend a lot of your time recruiting affiliates and JV partners. You could even hire an affiliate manager to spend their hours finding possible parters, contacting them and setting them up for promotions.

Continue to increase your visitor value, continue to build your backend, continue to find affiliates, and continue to motivate your affiliates to promote more.

It will have an exponential effect.

I'd start by asking myself why the conversion rate is so dreadfully low (is it the traffic, the product, the sales page, a combination of all, other reasons, or whatever???), identifying the reasons, and then work on correcting them before even trying to decide whether or not to go ahead with the project at all, with this product.

I totally agree with Jamespenn you need to rewrite your sales page and enhance product overview. If possible allow free trial for 10days. This would give people the real demonstration of your product.

Before re-doing the sales page, be sure there is money in the niche. some niches are filled with non-buyers. If your niche is one of those, instead of selling an ebook, go the adsense route.

Re-write the book instead after researching to find a closely re-lated niche with more buy prone people.

(research the niche, if there are a lot of searches containing the word 'free'... look out!)

Well, that's one possibility (maybe even the likeliest one), but it's not necessarily "obvious" from the information you've given. There are still other possible explanations, too.

One thing you might want to try (though not everyone does) is requesting a "copy critique" in the Copywriting Forum here. That way, if nothing else, you'll get some quick opinions from a few professional copywriters about whether or not it probably is the sales copy that's the problem. Just a suggestion ...

Or..
Once you have the major stuff fixed, you can offer a free chapter of the book, use it as a teaser with a link to the full book in it.

It's not very 'original', but it works.

I totally agree. You need professional help here.

A well designed sale page with some powerful arguement why a customer should buy your product will be helpful.

As somebody who has suffered from this first-hand, I have to say that this is the best piece of advice on the thread so far.

You can rank top 3-5 in google, get plenty of traffic, have a decent list, and even have Ok to good ad copy (all of which I have), and sales can still suck (which mine do at times) if you're in a niche that people just don't buy in.

In addition to what DogScout said, take a look at your competition - are there are other people out there selling stuff similar to what you are? If so, are they having good success with it? Are there offline versions of the type of product you sell (either in bookstores, on infomercials, etc.)? Basically, are people out there buying stuff similar to what you're selling, only from your competition instead of you?

If so, then go for the suggestions of getting your ad copy done and such.

If not, then think VERY seriously about switching up niches.
