You are right. I totally overlooked the factor of the monthly bill.

The monthly bill will be either $27 or $37.

It's going to be a weekly video content + free forum training from the experts + some free reports to the members + industry updates.

I really don't find too much of a difference between $1 and $5...that's probably why my hubby yells at me all the time (just kidding)

Actually, I usually feel guilty charging only $1 on my credit card so maybe $5 would inspire me to act more often. Better perceived value...

but what you can do is offer something for $5 and as a bonus they get a free 14 day trial with your membership site

I'm going to be very transparent here. Everyone knows me as the site flipping guy -- and yes, I am building a site flipping membership site.

People pay me up to $997 just for me to help them flip their first site.

Also, my last site flipping product was sold out. We also got featured in a guru's recent report.

And this time, I'm not doing it alone. I got another experienced site flipper to create this membership site together with me. So yeah it's an AWESOMMMEEEEE... offer.

The only thing that worries me is the psychology mind trick of $4.95. It's a very bad number compared to $1.

Of course you will not get access to everything. The content is dripped. So, the longer you subscribed, the more content you're gonna get. Get what I mean?

If I put everything upfront, people will just download everything and then unsubscribe -- which is unfair on our end.

I'm not trying to presell anything here -- but what I teach is what I already tested. And usually, I have success stories from people who bought my products -- which is why I am so confident that my offer is awesome.

I actually tested the $5 trial in one of my health niches and it was bad. The conversion dropped from 4% to 0.72% -- which is just drastic.

I agree with above. You need to extend the trial time. I like 9.95 for a WHOLE month too, but even then I still offer a $4.95 subscription (discounted from 9.95 actually).

You dont want your customer to feel streessed by knowing he HAS to enter and check out the content in less than 2 weeks or he's screwed screwed.

Give people a sense of assurance in your offer, let them know they can enter the site anytime they want this next month. Let them enjoy it for a while and get accustomed to it. If they like it they will stay, if they don't they will be the same guys that will cancel the membership after 3 months.

Thats just my 2 cents though, I dont have any experience in membership sites, but I do with newsletter subscriptions and weekly reports at $4.95 and it works.

The trick here when pitching the offer is to use trivial marketing techniques. Have them choose the subscription, dont make it the only choice. Google a bit about trivial marketing and apply the tactics. It does work. So don't compare it to $1...

Since you sound like the content will drip in monthly increments, why not make the trial period one month? Then you can legitimately compare your $4.95 trial to your $27/37 regular price. And to the cost of your sold out report. And the $997 people have paid you to help them.

You don't even have to call it a trial. Call it a delayed billing, with the first month discounted to $4.95. If they drop before the billing, they pay nothing. If they stay for the second month, they pay just $4.95, which they've already committed to and don't have to do anything to get. So you've doubled the time you have to make your site a habit. My guess is that you'll lose some to the first month dropouts, but you should make it up and more on the people who stay for the first full price month.

At $37, you can lose 7 at $4.95 (first month dropouts who pay nothing) for every one that stays, and still make a small profit. Up that to 2 out of 8 staying, and you're in high clover.

Just an idea...

Edit: To answer your original question, I know the $1 thing is just an excuse to get my credit card details on file. If the offer would get me at $1, it would get me at $4.95.

What I mean by trivial marketing is to let your customer see the benefits and added value of the product themselves. In a sense you are pushing that value into them by using some tactics, but by letting them be the ones to perceive that added value on their own you have a competitive advantage and a better chance to profit. (by converting more end buyers)

The simplest example of this is to use product differentiation. Using product "decoys" to simply add value to your target product.

One tactic for example. Let say you have an "AWESOME new report about how you can make $45,000 dollars a month for one full year with CPL offers"

You can choose to offer a one-package full of digital content at $257 (maybe discounted from $697?) You could try using the discount to "convert" more but is that really having a motivating factor to your customer? Does that discount have them say "Wow, this is a bargain I better get it now!"? Of course not. You are not adding value to you product there, you are just trying to push them into buying at a god price right away.

Now, why not offer your product for $257 flat with no extra bonuses, no extra reports, no extra nothing. Just your simple, easy to follow guide that will make them money because there is true value to it all alone.

The customer then decides to take the plunge and click the buy now button (do what 50% people do and head down to the checkout page), but now that user that acted sees he has 3 options to choose from, not only one.

First option is the standard package your sales page is offering, that awesome product that is now at at discounted price. TOTAL: $257

Now the decoy. Then he also notices he has a second option to choose from, this one has a free video interview with the product creator. This one is only around $20 dollars more expensive. TOTAL: $277.00

But NOW, your target product and the one where you REALLY profit has a free video course, 3 extra bonus reports, PLUS acces to a members area where you can get access to FAQs about marketing and get all the knowledge you need to act. Maybe even offer free email consulting to make sure they actually act and discuss whats stopping them. (This alone is a deal maker) Who wouldn't want to get this? This thing will practically guarantee they will see results even if they dont want to make money. Price for this? TOTAL: $457. A whooping $200 more than the original price.

Conversion rate for that package? Maybe 10%+, from the actual people that had buying intent and entered the cart to BUY. The time when a person makes that step and is prepared to take out the credit card is the best time to really sell and profit.

See how this is going? People often get fed up with trying to achieve high converting rates and yes, I have to say you really do have to pay attention to it, but what could really benefit from is converting more buyers into better buyers... I hope Im not being too confusing here, its getting late here and mind seems to think slower after 10pm

I really dont understand why would anyone want to cram a huge package in their sales page to "validate" the price they are offering. Should'nt your product be the focal point of your sales? Do it that way, sell it, persuade people to buy that because it works, dont sell them a bargain, sell them a solution, a benefit.

Ah! Thats about it for now! I think I went way to overboard with this huge comment but I hope that clears out your doubt. Also please dont take the example seriously! The industries I market dont allow me to make products at such high prices, but you can translate the same concept to that $50-$100 product.

What "rockstarinlife" said is a excellent way to make it happen. But a word of important advice if you do it... Just make sure that you are very upfront about it.

The thing is, content is delivered weekly.

I am pretty sure if you are to learn how to make more money online, you would prefer to get information weekly than monthly.

Yeah we considered that but again, we want everything to be completely digital and care-free. This is not a big project of mine -- just a sub-project so I want to completely automate this if possible.

You can still automate your entire sales funnel even if you implement FREE CD + Shipping & Handling.

Offer a FREE CD on the front end, your customer just pays shipping and handling which would be anywhere between $4.95 - $9.95 and perhaps $11.95 or $14.95 for international customers.

You will automatically enroll them into your continuity and give them either your 14 day trial before billing them or an entire month before billing them. Don't forget to be upfront and transparent in notifying your customers what they are enrolling into and why.

Rather than use Clickbank because it's so primitive, get your own quality shopping cart and merchant account or use an alternative merchant account like PayPal or 2CO.

Quality shopping carts such as Nanacast automate the fulfillment process for your FREE CD's in terms of collecting shipping information and forwarding shipping information to your fulfillment company on automatically.

There is even fulfillment companies where you don't have to pay until 30 days after a purchase had been made for your FREE CD. This allows you time to receive your revenue and then deducting the necessary expenses to pay fulfillment later on without the need of spending any money out of your own pocket.

You can drip your content weekly via email.

I would pay the 5 dollars if there is value. I really hate the one dollar trial offer then 97 after two weeks. REALLY. If I have money to pay 97 bucks then just give me one month free and if it is good I pay you the big bucks. However I am very targeted traffic, I pay 5 dollars, but mate I will be more willing if it was seven or nine for one month then 27 per month.
